Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Messenger from Valoria

The iron gates of the Azure Peak Academy groaned as they were forced open, not by magic, but by the sheer physical strength of the Valorian Royal Guard. Leading them was Commander Kaelen, a man known as the 'Wall of Valoria'. He was a Level 65 Paladin, and his presence alone was enough to make the weaker students collapse in fear.

Kaelen marched into the Great Hall, his heavy golden armor clanking against the stone floor. He stopped ten paces away from the throne where Caelum sat, surrounded by a swirling aura of red and black static.

"Caelum Thorne!" Kaelen's voice thundered, echoing off the high ceilings. "I am here on behalf of King Valerius. You have seized this Academy by force and disrupted the balance of the Northern Realms. Surrender now, and you may face a quick trial. Resist, and my army will level this mountain to the ground."

Caelum didn't even look up from the small cube of glowing data he was playing with in his palm. "Level 65, huh? High physical defense, passive health regeneration, and a 'Holy Strike' that scales with your faith. Predictable. Boring."

Kaelen stiffened. "How do you know my stats?! No one below Level 80 can see my hidden attributes!"

"Stats are just variables, Commander," Caelum finally looked up, his eyes flashing with a predatory red light. "And in my world, I don't just see variables. I edit them."

[ACTION: ATTRIBUTE_SWAP: STRENGTH <-> LUCK]

Suddenly, Kaelen felt a sickening lurch in his gut. His massive, two-handed claymore, which usually felt as light as a feather, suddenly became impossibly heavy. His knees buckled under the weight of his own armor.

"What... what did you do to me?" Kaelen wheezed, trying to lift his arm, but it felt like lead.

"I simply swapped your Strength with your Luck," Caelum stood up and slowly descended the stairs of the throne. "You now have the strength of a newborn baby, but hey, you're the luckiest baby in the world. Maybe you'll survive the fall."

[ACTION: DISCONNECT_GRAVITY_SYNC]

With a snap of Caelum's fingers, the gravity around the Valorian guards inverted. They weren't pushed; the ground simply stopped holding them. They drifted toward the ceiling, screaming as their heavy armor made them float like clumsy metal balloons.

"Go back to your King," Caelum said, his voice cold and echoing. "Tell him that the era of 'Levels' is over. If he wants to talk to me, tell him to come himself. And tell him to bring something more interesting than a Level 65 Paladin."

Caelum turned to Kira, who was standing in the shadows. "Kira, let them go. But keep their weapons. I want to see if I can 'Glitch' their enchantments into something more... explosive."

As the guards were expelled from the gates by a sudden pulse of energy, Caelum looked out at the horizon. A new notification appeared in his vision, one that he hadn't seen before.

[WARNING: WORLD_SERVER_ADMINISTRATOR_DETECTED_ANOMALY]

[INCOMING_SYSTEM_AUDIT_IN: 48 HOURS]

Caelum's smirk widened. "So, the 'Gods' finally noticed me. Good. I was getting tired of playing with the NPCs."
