Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Breaking the Limit

Chapter 12: Breaking the Limit

The moment the clash began in full, the entire building trembled under the pressure, cracks spreading across the walls and ceiling as if the structure itself could not withstand the forces colliding within it, while at the center of it all, Lin Yu stood unmoving, his body steady but his control pushed to its absolute limit, as every drop of water within his domain surged violently in response to his will, colliding again and again against the invisible field surrounding the creature.

The creature did not retreat.

It stepped forward.

Each step shattered the ground beneath it, the pressure radiating outward disrupting Lin Yu's control, forcing the water currents to distort and break apart before reforming again under his command. Its glowing eyes remained fixed on him, no longer observing, but fully engaged, its movements becoming sharper, faster, more precise.

Lin Yu exhaled slowly, his mind entering a state of complete focus, stripping away distraction, fear, and hesitation, leaving only calculation.

"Force alone won't work," he realized instantly. "Its body… its field… both are too strong."

Then—

Change the method.

The water around him shifted.

Instead of overwhelming outward pressure, it began to condense inward, becoming thinner, sharper, more refined. The violent storm calmed—not weakened, but focused. The countless currents merged into fewer streams, each one denser, faster, more precise than before.

Quality over quantity.

The creature moved again, closing the distance in an instant, its arm striking forward with controlled brutality, but this time Lin Yu did not attempt to block it directly. He stepped to the side, the movement aided by the water beneath him, reducing friction, increasing speed.

The attack passed him by—

Barely.

But enough.

In that same moment, Lin Yu struck.

A single condensed stream shot forward, thinner than a blade, faster than before, aimed not at the surface—

But at a point.

The creature reacted, raising its arm to intercept, but the moment the stream made contact, it did not disperse like before.

It drilled.

A sharp, piercing force concentrated into one point.

The hardened surface resisted for a fraction of a second—

Then cracked.

A small fracture appeared.

Lin Yu's eyes sharpened instantly.

"That's it."

He found it.

Not a weakness—

But a limit.

The creature stepped back for the first time, its gaze flickering slightly as it registered the damage. The crack on its arm did not heal immediately like the others had.

Lin Yu did not let the opportunity pass.

He raised both hands, and the water throughout the building responded, no longer spreading widely, but focusing entirely into multiple condensed streams, each one targeting the same point.

Precision.

Repetition.

Pressure.

The streams shot forward in rapid succession, striking the fracture again and again, each impact deepening it, widening it, pushing past the resistance that had once seemed impenetrable.

The creature moved to evade, but Lin Yu's domain had already adapted. The water around it shifted dynamically, adjusting angles, predicting movement, redirecting attacks in real time.

For the first time—

It was being suppressed.

A low, distorted sound escaped from the creature as its movements became less smooth, its posture shifting under the accumulating damage.

But it did not fall.

Instead—

Its field expanded.

A sudden surge of pressure exploded outward, stronger than before, forcing Lin Yu's domain back violently, disrupting his control and scattering the condensed streams.

Lin Yu's body trembled slightly under the backlash, his footing sliding back as cracks spread further beneath him.

"Stronger…"

It was adapting again.

Faster than before.

The creature charged forward, its speed increasing, its movements no longer measured, but aggressive.

Lin Yu's eyes narrowed.

"Then I go faster."

The water beneath his feet surged upward, propelling him forward instead of backward, meeting the creature head-on. The space between them closed instantly.

This time—

He did not attack from a distance.

He stepped into range.

Dangerously close.

The creature's arm moved to strike—

But Lin Yu was already inside its reach.

His hand pressed forward.

Not toward the surface—

But toward the inside.

His control surged inward once more, targeting the water within the creature's body, but this time, instead of forcing a sudden collapse, he did something different.

He synchronized.

For a brief moment—

He followed its flow.

Matched it.

Understood it.

Then—

He disrupted it.

"Break."

The command was soft.

But absolute.

The internal flow destabilized violently, no longer resisting in a single direction, but collapsing from multiple points simultaneously.

The creature froze.

Its body trembled.

Cracks spread from the earlier fracture, extending across its arm, its torso, its entire structure as the internal pressure surged beyond control.

Its glowing eyes flickered.

For the first time—

They dimmed.

Lin Yu stepped back immediately, his body retreating as the water around him pulled him away from the collapsing form.

A second later—

The creature broke.

Not exploded—

But shattered.

Its body collapsed inward, fragments breaking apart as the internal structure failed completely, falling to the ground in lifeless pieces.

Silence followed.

The pressure in the air vanished instantly.

The rain outside seemed to return to normal, the oppressive weight lifting as if something had been removed from the world itself.

Lin Yu stood still, his breathing slightly heavier now, his control slowly stabilizing as the water around him calmed once more.

He had won.

But unlike before—

There was no sense of ease.

Because as he looked at the remains—

He understood something clearly.

This was not the peak.

Not even close.

A faint glow appeared among the fragments.

A core.

Larger than any before.

Darker.

Denser.

Lin Yu stared at it silently.

He could feel it.

The power contained within it was far beyond what he had absorbed before.

But so was the danger.

Behind him, Su Yan finally found the strength to speak, her voice shaking slightly.

"…You won…"

Lin Yu did not respond immediately.

His eyes remained fixed on the core.

Then he spoke, his voice calm, but carrying a weight far heavier than before.

"…For now."

He stepped forward slowly.

The water around him shifted slightly, as if reacting to what was about to happen.

This time—

He knew.

The next step—

Would change everything.
