Chapter 36 - Enlightenment in Critical Moments Is the Protagonist’s Privilege

The rest of the match practically turned into a two-man performance by Lewis and Cirila.

They took turns launching attacks—either breaking through with overwhelming individual skill and impact, or coordinating with flawless teamwork and refined techniques, completely toying with Hufflepuff's Chasers.

In the past, Hufflepuff could rely on a multi-player defensive formation to shut down Cirila, while the rest would drag Ravenclaw into close-range entanglements, buying time and creating opportunities.

This had been the standard strategy against Ravenclaw ever since Cirila joined the team.

But now, even that tactic no longer worked.

Because Lewis posed no less of a threat than Cirila.

Whenever Hufflepuff focused their defense on one of them, the other would exploit the gap and charge through to score relentlessly.

But if they didn't commit to marking either one, the two would activate simultaneously, their extraordinary synergy making them even more dangerous.

And so, Hufflepuff was dragged all over the pitch, constantly reacting, yet never able to figure out how to stop Ravenclaw's offense.

As Lee Jordan summed it up, "Lewis's addition has given Ravenclaw two Cirilas!"

No—in Hufflepuff's eyes, Lewis was Cirila pro-plus-ultra-max version.

Not only did he possess the same speed, technique, and impact as Cirila, he also had an unmatched level of intuition and perception that she lacked.

Bludgers posed no threat to him at all.

No matter which direction the Beaters attacked from—

Whether it was a frontal strike or a sneak attack—

They couldn't even touch him.

He didn't need to actively watch his surroundings. With the smallest movements, he could effortlessly evade every incoming Bludger.

Hufflepuff had never faced an opponent like this before.

They were slower than him, less skilled than him, couldn't outmuscle him, and couldn't even hit him.

It was like trying to attack a hedgehog—there was simply no way to approach.

"Hufflepuff's Keeper might block one shot, maybe two—but they can't stop Ravenclaw from shooting again and again!"

Jordan exclaimed.

"Ravenclaw has two unstoppable attackers, and Hufflepuff has no answer! The match has only been going for ten minutes, and Ravenclaw already has 90 points—almost a goal per minute!"

At this point, Hufflepuff could only place their hopes on their Seeker, Cedric Diggory.

As long as he could catch the Golden Snitch within ten minutes, victory would still belong to Hufflepuff.

Why ten minutes?

Because at this rate, the score difference would exceed 150 points within that time. After that, even catching the Snitch wouldn't be enough.

Jordan turned his gaze back to the field, scanning intensely as if he wanted to become a Seeker himself.

But even the actual Seekers hadn't found anything—what chance did he have?

When the score reached 120 to 20, the situation suddenly changed.

Lewis, who had been coordinating attacks with Cirila, abruptly stopped and turned, flying toward Ravenclaw's Seeker, Cho Chang, leaving Cirila alone to face Hufflepuff's pursuit.

Yet none of the Ravenclaw players found this strange.

Under the puzzled gaze of the audience, the two Chinese students exchanged a few words mid-air.

Then Lewis pointed toward the Hufflepuff stands.

Cho immediately accelerated, diving forward at full speed, with Lewis following closely behind.

Not far away, Cedric froze for a brief moment before realizing what was happening and gave chase.

Though he couldn't yet confirm it, he instinctively understood—

The Golden Snitch was there.

The tiny, walnut-sized golden ball fluttered its wings like a wasp, darting through the air.

Jordan's commentary revealed the truth to the audience.

"Incredible! In this match, the first person to spot the Golden Snitch isn't either Seeker—but Ravenclaw's Chaser, who's already delivered an outstanding performance! That's right—Lewis Green has been scoring nonstop while simultaneously tracking the Snitch, and he's the first to find it!"

He stared intently at the chase, his voice filled with excitement.

"The situation is clear! Ravenclaw has changed tactics! Their youngest Chaser has transformed into a second Seeker, assisting Cho Chang in capturing the Golden Snitch! Meanwhile, the rest of Ravenclaw has shifted into a defensive formation, stalling for time! With their score advantage, they don't need to worry about conceding points—if they catch the Snitch first, victory is guaranteed!"

As Hufflepuff's Seeker, Cedric Diggory had spent the match watching this boy dominate his teammates.

The opponent was so powerful that Cedric had been forced to carry the responsibility of turning the game around.

And now, he was experiencing firsthand just how troublesome that boy was.

Realizing that Ravenclaw had spotted the Snitch before him, Cedric pushed his broom to maximum speed, risking everything to overtake Cho.

But Lewis moved like an escort fighter protecting a bomber.

Every time Cedric tried to get closer, Lewis intercepted him head-on, as if he would rather crash than let him pass.

Cedric tried everything—sudden acceleration, sharp turns, even direct collisions.

But no matter what he did, the young Chaser would always appear exactly in his path, blocking him completely.

He had thought his older, stronger body would give him the advantage.

He was wrong.

The moment they collided, Cedric felt as though he had slammed into a troll.

Finally, he couldn't hold back anymore.

Seeing that Cho was just centimeters away from the Snitch, he abandoned all caution and charged forward recklessly.

Lewis didn't give him an inch, placing himself directly in Cedric's path.

As the two clashed—

Cho suddenly slowed down.

The three of them collided together and tumbled straight into Hufflepuff's banner.

Sensing danger, Cedric forced his broom to turn and barely managed to escape.

Lewis might have been able to break free as well, but Cho's grip wasn't strong enough. Holding the broom with one hand, she lost control and was thrown off as the banner twisted around them.

Seeing this, Lewis had no choice.

He lunged forward, casting Frost Armor in a split second, intending to use it as a buffer.

[You are in imminent danger. You need to cast a spell quickly to deal with the situation. At this critical moment, you comprehend the metamagic ability "Instant Cast."]

[Instant Cast: You can consume additional mana to cast spells instantly. The higher the spell level, the greater the mana cost. Typically, spells above 5th-circle cannot be instant-cast.]

"Instant Cast—Frost Armor!"

"Psionic Burst!"

In an instant, invisible frost armor enveloped Lewis, protecting both him and Cho in his arms.

At the same time, a surge of invisible psychic force erupted, greatly slowing their descent.

From the audience's perspective, the two had been tangled in the banner and were falling from over ten meters in the air.

A collective gasp swept across the stands.

Professor Flitwick immediately drew his wand and cast a cushioning charm, working together with Lewis's psionic force to slow their fall.

The two of them, along with the banner, crashed onto the grass and rolled several times.

Madam Hooch called a halt to the match.

The Ravenclaw players quickly flew down to help them untangle themselves.

Even Cedric came over, looking apologetic as he checked on them.

When they finally broke free from the banner and stood up, surrounded by their teammates, the entire stadium seemed to freeze for a moment—then erupted into thunderous cheers.

Cho Chang stepped out of Lewis's arms and raised her hand high, the Golden Snitch clenched tightly within it.

It was because of this tiny creature that she had lost control earlier.

But the risk had been worth it.

270 to 20—Ravenclaw had won by an overwhelming margin.

It was important to remember that the Hogwarts Quidditch Cup was decided not by match wins, but by total accumulated points.

Such a massive lead instantly put Ravenclaw far ahead of all other teams.

The stadium became a sea of celebration.

The Ravenclaw players were ecstatic. Roger hugged Lewis tightly, cheering nonstop, completely unconcerned that he had mostly played a supporting role during the match.

Cho held the Golden Snitch high, her other hand gripping Lewis's wrist tightly.

Lewis, being pulled and embraced from all sides, could only offer an awkward smile.

Cirila was happy about the victory as well, but for some reason, she felt slightly uncomfortable. Especially when she saw Cho gripping Lewis's wrist, she couldn't help but roll her eyes.

And so, amid laughter and excitement, Ravenclaw's first Quidditch match came to an end.
