Chapter 65 - 65

"Fenris, could you help me bring this to the professor? My class is about to start."

After chatting for a bit, Scott glanced at his watch, shoved the chessboard into Fenris's arms, and hurried out of sight.

"You two, make yourselves at home."

Fenris gave Tony a faint smile and turned to leave as well.

"Come on. Let's head back."

After staring at Fenris's retreating figure for a long moment, Tony suddenly spoke and turned his wheelchair around.

"Back where?" Pepper followed after him, puzzled.

"To find those kids and ask around about this Fenris. I want to know just who exactly he is."

...

Inside Professor X's office:

"Erik, you're going to lose again."

Charles made a casual move and looked cheerfully at his old friend, who was frowning hard.

"I should've listened to Fenris and brought the helmet."

Magneto hesitantly shifted his queen and muttered resentfully, "You could never beat me before."

"I'm not reading your mind."

Professor X showed no mercy at all as his pieces pressed in from every direction.

"You expect me to believe that?"

"No, this is cheating. I'm done playing."

Knock knock.

A sudden knock at the door made Magneto slowly pull back the hand he had already placed on the edge of the chessboard, ready to flip it.

"Professor, I'm here to drop something off for Scott."

Fenris poked his head in through the door and lifted the box in his hand. "Huh. You two actually didn't destroy the chessboard this time?"

"Fenris, perfect timing."

The moment Magneto saw who it was, his expression changed, and he suddenly smiled. "We happen to have something we need to discuss with you."

"What is it?"

Fenris sat down on the sofa.

"Do you remember the Sentinel Program you mentioned to us before?" Professor X asked directly. "Based on the leads you gave us, we've already found something."

"Hm?"

The moment he heard it was about the Sentinel Program, Fenris's expression sharpened and he immediately sat up straight.

He had not expected the two of them to move this fast. Nick Fury's side still had no results, and yet these two had already dug something up?

"So what is it? Did you already find their headquarters?" Fenris asked.

"Take it easy. Here's the situation."

Magneto silently swept his left hand across the chessboard, knocking every piece over. Ignoring Charles's rapidly darkening expression across from him, he continued without the slightest embarrassment.

"Just now, the Red Devil came to see me."

"Based on the latest intelligence we've gathered, Bolivar Trask is very likely still alive."

"But his movements are extremely well hidden. Charles still hasn't been able to pinpoint their exact location."

"What?"

Fenris turned to Professor X in surprise. "How could a bunch of ordinary humans hide themselves so well that even you can't find them?"

"I'm not all-powerful, Fenris."

Now that the game was clearly over, Professor X simply withdrew his gaze and shook his head lightly. "Just as you said, the Sentinels were created specifically to target mutants. If that's the case, then they would obviously take Erik and me into account."

"We were both thinking too simply before. We assumed that if we followed the trail, we could easily uproot the whole thing..."

Magneto took a deep breath and picked up the thread, sounding a little irritated.

"The facts have proven that they are far more cunning than we imagined."

"Even after mobilizing this many resources, we've only managed to uncover two leads that may be connected."

"First, the Sentinel Program appears to be tied to an extremely secretive group. Through that group, they've been obtaining some unknown raw material from a small African country called Wakanda."

"Wakanda?"

Fenris immediately thought of the map he had seen earlier in Magneto's room.

He had originally assumed Magneto had his eye on Wakanda's vibranium. He had not expected it to be because of the Sentinel Program.

"That's right. I've already shared all the information with Charles. He'll monitor the movements of that group. The moment we find something, we'll be able to drag them out and trace the chain from there."

No matter how secretive the Sentinel Program was, its progress still depended on people.

And as long as people were involved, investigations became much easier with Professor X.

"As for the second lead..."

Magneto raised a second finger and said seriously, "There's a secret site near the Arctic. It used to be a covert military base."

"But later, for reasons we still don't know, someone completely buried it and erased it from every existing record, as if it had never existed at all."

"All signs point to the fact that this place is, or at the very least once was, a Sentinel base."

"The Arctic... yeah, that would be hidden enough."

After a brief moment of thought, Fenris understood what Magneto was getting at.

"So I'm planning to go there myself and find out what's really there."

Magneto nodded, then looked at Fenris with clear anticipation.

"We're telling you all this partly because you were the one who told us about the program in the first place, the one who made us realize that beneath the surface calm, a crisis targeting mutants was already brewing."

"But on the other hand, if the Sentinel Program really was built specifically to target mutants, then they've most likely already studied our abilities in detail. They may even have multiple countermeasures prepared specifically for each of us."

"And you are the most promising of the younger generation. Your power is simple, violent, and has no obvious weakness. That means no one can easily prepare a direct counter for you."

"If I go alone, even with the Red Devil or Riptide with me, the risks will still be enormous... but with you there, it becomes a different story."

"Fenris, if possible, would you come with me to the Arctic? With you there, even if that place really is a mountain of blades and a sea of fire, I wouldn't fear it in the slightest."

"You're worried about weapons made from composite materials?"

Meeting Magneto's hopeful gaze, Fenris then glanced over at Professor X.

Magneto's powers were straightforward. In the past, people had used specialized bullets and firearms against him, and even the prison that once held him had been built entirely from plastic.

"I'm not afraid of those third-rate weapons anymore."

Magneto let out a scornful laugh.

"All right. We'll go together."

Fenris nodded and agreed.

The moment he awakened Godzilla, his mutant ability had already undergone a complete transformation. Those countermeasures designed for mutants were basically meaningless in front of him.
