"Awesome!"
"Fenris, the reactor chamber is almost at its limit..."
"Then push it to the limit!"
At Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, in a remote corner that was usually ignored, a three-story building with an entirely ordinary exterior had quietly risen from the ground.
Inside the building, in front of a gigantic reaction vessel nearly ten meters tall, Hank, covered in blue fur and wearing a heavy protective suit, was drenched in sweat as he adjusted the parameters.
"Fenris, the design standard for this reactor room is already extremely high, but it still can't handle you opening this many portals at once."
"I see..."
In the especially spacious area Hank had designed specifically for him, Fenris nodded with some regret after hearing that.
Inside this room, he could absorb radiation to the greatest extent possible, but for the sake of efficiency, he had opened five additional portals.
They led respectively to the four reactors Nick Fury had given him this time, as well as the abandoned reactor room at the mutant research base.
In the unprecedented torrent of radiation, an ordinary person would not have dared remain there for even a minute. But Fenris stood in the middle of it all, wearing a blissful expression as he enjoyed the comfortable heat spreading through his entire body.
At the moment, he had already transformed into a Godzilla form over four meters tall. Under the intense radiation, the blue glow along his dorsal spines pulsed constantly, and his body was slowly growing larger bit by bit.
"So good..."
Fenris let out a long, satisfied moan.
"Fenris, I've seen quite a few mutants, but you're a freak among freaks."
Watching Fenris lounge there in pure comfort while the readings on the radiation meter he carried were practically hitting the ceiling, Hank did not dare stay any longer and hurried out.
"No, my radiation suit is about to give out. Take your time in here by yourself."
"See you, Hank. Contact me anytime if something comes up."
Fenris lazily waved a hand.
This place was far better than that mountain from before. With the equivalent of nearly six reactors running at full power, even in a steady, controlled flow, the amount of radiation being released was astonishing.
"SHIELD really does have money. I should squeeze a few more benefits out of them if I get the chance..."
Muttering to himself, Fenris watched as, in the next instant, a faint humanoid silhouette of light drifted out from his enormous body.
As his consciousness began to spread outward, everything around him swept rapidly through his awareness.
He saw Pyro in the training field, drenched in sweat as he practiced controlling flames. He saw Ryan practicing rapid-fire throws at targets. He also saw Professor X resting quietly in his office.
As if he had sensed something, the professor suddenly opened his eyes and smiled faintly in Fenris's direction.
Fenris paused for the briefest moment. Then, in the next instant, his consciousness seemed to break through a thin, transparent membrane and abruptly entered an endless expanse of darkness.
The Dark Dimension.
Not far away, a person in a bright yellow robe quickly noticed his arrival and gave him a distant nod.
Neither of them spoke. Each quietly went about their own business.
Fenris skillfully concealed his presence and aura, silently drawing in the surrounding energy.
That inexhaustible power continuously flowed back into his real body through the connection between soul and flesh.
Time passed soundlessly. Who knew how long it had been when a strange fluctuation suddenly came from the distance, jolting Fenris awake.
"What's going on?"
"After all these years, little thief, it's you again!"
A thick streak of purple-black light carrying overwhelming force shot toward him from far away, aimed directly at Fenris.
"I've been found!"
Fenris jolted violently. Just as he was about to cast a spell and run, a glowing yellow shield suddenly appeared in front of him and firmly blocked Dormammu's strike.
"I told you long ago not to get greedy."
At some point, the Ancient One had appeared behind him. She gently pushed him with one hand, and in the next instant Fenris, along with the Ancient One, vanished directly from the Dark Dimension.
"Ancient One!"
"You two thieves!"
...
On the other side, Fenris only felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. When his vision cleared again, a beautiful blue planet reappeared before his eyes.
"Earth?"
"The Ancient One sent me back?"
Fenris looked around, but he could not find that familiar yellow figure anywhere.
In the vast emptiness of space, it seemed as though he was alone.
"Looks like I was overthinking it."
Fenris shook his head. Just as he was about to return, faint strands of countless lines suddenly appeared across Earth in his field of vision.
These lines extended from one figure after another, crossing, intertwining, and wrapping tightly around the planet.
But among them were hundreds, perhaps thousands, of enormous nodes, each one glowing faintly.
"What is this?"
Fenris blinked and casually extended his awareness toward one of the points near the Arctic.
Buzz.
A slight wave of dizziness hit him. His vision blurred, and one vague scene after another unfolded before him.
"I can do this all day!"
"No, Peggy, I have to go!"
"Bucky, grab me!"
"I don't think I'm going to make that date..."
Whoosh.
The images flashed past in an instant. The voices faded just as quickly, as though everything he had just seen had been nothing but an illusion.
"That point represents... Cap?"
If he was guessing correctly, Cap was still frozen in the ice right now, exactly where that light point was.
Fenris blinked, then could not help lowering his head to look at his own hands.
When had he gained an ability like this?
Still unwilling to believe it, Fenris picked another point and extended his awareness toward it.
"Motherfucker!"
"Here, kitty kitty... ah! My eye!"
"The formation of the Avengers is imperative!"
"Coulson, once you're done with your current work, I'm thinking of sending you to Mexico for a little break. What do you think?"
Whoosh.
The images flashed by again.
"That one's Nick Fury's."
Realization dawned on Fenris, and he eagerly continued looking onward.
In the next moment, a light point located in west-central Asia suddenly caught his attention.
This point was enormous and especially striking, but unlike the others, it was not bright and steady. Instead, it flickered weakly, as if it might go out at any moment.
"This is..."
Fenris froze for a moment, then carefully reached out with his awareness and touched it.
Clang! Clang clang!
"Tony, the shrapnel near your heart has already gone in too deep. You can't keep doing this."
"Yinsen, I have to build this thing and get us out of here!"
...
"No, Tony, your injuries are getting worse again..."
"Listen, Yinsen, there's a good chance I'm not making it out. Once I finish building it, you're the one who'll wear it. You need to stay alive..."
"No! Tony!"
Whoosh.
The familiar dizziness faded and the voices disappeared, but the images he had just seen left Fenris's face full of confusion and disbelief.
"What the hell is going on? Why is Tony Stark about to die?"
"And why is Dr. Yinsen the one supposed to wear the Mark I suit?"
