There was a giant serpent!
Its body coiled around the castle, wrapped around the towers, its scales the exact same green as the sky. Its head rested near the top, with its eyes closed.
Then it opened its eyes like it noticed Kyle's gaze.
It looked at him.
Kyle's blood turned to ice.
The serpent's gaze pinned him in place. He couldn't move. Couldn't breathe. The whispers in his head became screams — loud, piercing, desperate.
He blinked his eyes again involuntarily.
And then he found himself back in the library.
`W-WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME?!`
He noticed a change in the room. The red couch was turning green — not painted, not dyed, but becoming. The fabric shifted color like chameleon skin.
The candles — their flames shifted from warm orange to pale, sickly green. Shadows crawled along the walls, twisting into strange shapes.
Kyle turned his head to the ground.
