Smiling heartily at what he saw as Stan trying to hide the obvious, the clerk shook his head, selected a plan, ran the activation, and slid the small plastic sleeve across the counter. Stan paid in cash, took the receipt, and walked back out into the cooling air.
Beside the Lamborghini he opened the Samsung box, slid the SIM into place, and powered the phone on. The screen lit. After a few seconds the network connected. Signal bars appeared, clean and steady. He checked once more, then slipped the phone into his pocket and set the box and charger neatly on the passenger seat.
