Chapter 3 - Regret Begins!

Inside the tea shop, Stan and Maya sat across from each other by the window.

Two cups of overpriced viral milk tea rested on the table between them. And surprisingly, Maya had insisted on paying for everything herself.

Warm evening light filtered through the glass windows, falling softly across her face.

At that moment, Maya rested both hands on the table, her fair, jade-like palms gently supporting her delicate chin.

Her posture was elegant and naturally charming, like a blooming lotus flower.

"Stan… thank you for what happened yesterday."

Her voice was soft and gentle, carrying a sweetness that was difficult to resist.

For a brief moment, even Stan lost focus slightly.

The title of Peak University's campus belle truly wasn't exaggerated.

Whether it was Maya's appearance, temperament, or voice, everything about her was exceptionally attractive.

Compared to her, Lily barely seemed worth mentioning anymore.

Fortunately, Stan still had enough self-control to remain calm.

If it were most other men sitting here, they probably would have already been completely mesmerized by Maya.

Stan picked up his drink and took a sip casually.

"It's nothing."

"You don't need to thank me that seriously."

Maya shook her head lightly.

"No, I really do."

A trace of sincerity appeared in her beautiful eyes.

"You helped me a lot yesterday."

"My stream gained a huge amount of exposure because of you."

Then, after hesitating briefly, she smiled softly.

"How about this…"

"Let me buy you an outfit as a thank-you gift."

Maya then brought Stan to a GUCCi men's clothing store.

The moment they stepped inside, they ran into familiar faces.

Leo stood near the display racks with one arm wrapped possessively around Lily's waist while the two browsed through luxury outfits together.

The instant Lily spotted Stan, her expression turned ice-cold, as though she had just seen something disgusting.

"Stan, are you seriously still pestering me?" she said sharply. "We already broke up. Have some self-respect."

Stan frowned slightly. What terrible luck. He had only come shopping with Maya, yet somehow still managed to run into his ex-girlfriend.

"You misunderstood," Stan replied calmly. "I'm just here to buy clothes."

Lily immediately let out a mocking laugh.

"Buy clothes? Can you even afford anything here?"

She knew exactly how poor Stan used to be. A guy who survived on cheap street food and skipped meals to save money, what business did he have in a luxury store where even a shirt cost over ten thousand dollars?

To her, it was simply impossible. Stan merely shook his head, too lazy to argue.

At that moment, Leo casually picked up a designer suit jacket and turned toward the sales clerk.

"How much is this one?"

"Thirty-two thousand dollars, sir."

"Only thirty thousand?" Leo smirked arrogantly. "Cheap. I'll take it."

His tone was intentionally loud.

With Lily pressed against his side, he deliberately positioned himself in front of Stan, flaunting his wealth without restraint.

"Some people," Leo said slowly while glancing at Stan, "won't earn enough money to afford clothes like this even after working their entire lives."

The implication couldn't have been more obvious.

Before Stan could respond, Maya walked over while holding a black jacket in her hands.

"I picked this out for you," she said softly. "Do you like it?"

Stan glanced at the jacket and nodded.

"I do."

"Then wrap this up too," Maya said to the clerk.

The moment Leo saw the price tag, his expression changed.

That jacket was the most expensive item in the entire store; a limited-edition luxury piece worth well over one hundred thousand dollars.

Even Leo hesitated to spend that much on clothing.

His eyes immediately narrowed.

'What the hell is going on?'

Wasn't Maya supposed to be the untouchable campus goddess? How did she suddenly become so close to Stan?

And the more Leo looked at Maya, the more dissatisfied he became with Lily standing beside him.

Whether it was appearance, temperament, or figure, Maya completely overwhelmed her.

Not even on the same level.

"Maya, what a coincidence," Leo said quickly, forcing out a smile as he tried to strike up a conversation.

Maya merely glanced at him indifferently before looking away again.

She completely ignored him.

Leo's smile stiffened instantly.

Embarrassment burned across his face as he shot Stan a vicious glare.

A loser like Stan actually managing to get close to Peak University's campus belle made him feel furious and humiliated.

"Maya," Leo said unwillingly, "my Audi is parked outside. Want me to drive you somewhere later?"

"No need."

Her refusal was immediate and cold.

She had already seen the conflict between Leo and Stan.

Besides, Stan was the mysterious big spender who had tipped her nearly five million dollars on TikTuk Live.

There was no way Maya would offend him over someone like Leo.

Without hesitation, she walked directly to Stan's side and naturally linked her arm around his.

"Having Stan accompany me is enough."

Her tone sounded intimate and affectionate.

Stan instantly felt his mood improve.

Maya really knew how to give someone face.

Even though he knew her attitude was largely because of his money, it still felt satisfying watching Leo's expression darken.

Leo's fists clenched tightly.

His eyes reddened with frustration and unwillingness.

He simply couldn't accept it.

How could a broke loser like Stan end up beside a goddess like Maya?

Soon after, Maya brought Stan into the CUCCi women's clothing store next door to pick out a few outfits for herself.

Leo immediately dragged Lily in as well, unwilling to lose.

"Lily, buy whatever you want," he declared loudly. "Don't worry about the price. I have money."

As he spoke, he deliberately glanced toward Stan again, clearly trying to provoke him.

Stan only smiled faintly. 'Leo really is childish…'

'So this is the man Lily left me for?'

Watching Leo desperately try to show off at every opportunity honestly felt ridiculous.

Meanwhile, Maya took out her bank card and headed toward the counter to pay.

The moment Leo noticed this, a cold sneer appeared on his face.

He walked over to Stan and mocked loudly:

"Stan, why are you letting a woman pay for your stuff?"

"What's wrong? Too broke to afford it yourself?"

Lily immediately joined in.

"Leo, the clothes here all start above ten thousand dollars. A loser like Stan obviously can't afford them."

Leo laughed mockingly.

"Oh right, I almost forgot. Stan's just a poor, pathetic loser."

The two sang in perfect harmony, doing everything they could to humiliate him publicly.

In their eyes, Stan should have already been too ashamed to even lift his head.

Originally, Stan couldn't even be bothered to show off.

But Leo had pushed things too far.

At this point…

It seemed he had no choice but to teach them what real wealth looked like.

Sighing, Stan casually walked toward Maya.

Seeing this, Leo frowned in confusion.

"What's going on?" he muttered. "Don't tell me this guy actually plans to pay?"

Maya also noticed Stan approaching and couldn't help teasing him slightly.

"What's wrong?" she asked with a playful smile. "Are you going to pay for me?"

Stan calmly shook his head. "No."

For a brief moment, disappointment flashed across Maya's beautiful eyes.

But after thinking about it carefully, it made sense.

After all, she and Stan were still only acquaintances. Although he had tipped her nearly five million dollars during her livestream, this was still only their first real outing together.

Stan had absolutely no obligation to buy luxury clothes for her.

Leo immediately burst into mocking laughter.

"Hah! Putting on an act again?" he sneered. "In the end, you're still too broke to afford anything here."

Lily also let out a relieved sigh.

"You scared me for a second," she said mockingly. "I actually thought he was going to pay."

In her eyes, that was simply impossible.

How could Stan afford luxury goods?

Even the clothes she picked out only cost around twenty thousand dollars.

And in Stan's mind, even with a double rebate, spending that amount would only return forty thousand.

No matter how he calculated it, the profit margin was too small.

If he was going to spend money… Then he might as well go big. Very big.

Stan suddenly raised his hand and pointed calmly toward the rows of luxury clothing throughout the store.

"I'll buy everything in this shop."

The moment those words fell—The entire store went silent.

"...Everything?" the sales clerk repeated blankly, suspecting they had misheard him.

"That's right," Stan replied casually. "All of it."

Since he had already decided to spend money, naturally he wanted to maximize the rebate as much as possible.

After all, the System only gave him two consumption cashback opportunities each week.

If he spent too little, wouldn't that be a complete waste?

As for some of those clothes that won't fit her or are for males, Stan cared about none of that, she can sell it back to the store or something, all he cares about right now is maximising his rebate

But Maya didn't seem to understand as she quickly grabbed his arm.

Her voice softened noticeably.

"You really don't need to buy that much," she said gently. "It's too wasteful. Buying one piece is already enough."

At that exact moment, System notifications began ringing nonstop inside Stan's mind.

[Maya: Favorability 34]

[Maya: Favorability 37]

[Maya: Favorability 40]

[Maya: Favorability 49]

[Maya: Favorability 53]

[Favorability surpassed 50.]

[Next consumption will receive a five-fold rebate.]

Stan's heartbeat instantly accelerated.

Her favorability had actually broken past fifty already?

And it had only been two days since they met.

At this rate, reaching one hundred favorability no longer seemed impossible.

In other words, he was getting closer and closer to becoming a true billionaire tycoon.

Although Maya kept saying she didn't want him wasting money on her, her skyrocketing favorability clearly exposed what she truly felt inside.

Stan suppressed the excitement in his heart and smiled faintly.

"There's no need to be polite with me," he said casually. "It's just a little pocket change."

Maya shook her head again.

"Really, one piece is enough."

Stan sighed inwardly.

'One piece?'

'How could that possibly work?'

'If I stop spending now, wouldn't I lose the chance to make even more money?'
