Chapter 98 - Sisters, Secrets, and Spicy Perch

"Relax."

Kai quietly held Acting Grand Master Jean's hand and whispered gently in her ear.

Hearing her husband's voice, the originally nervous Acting Grand Master Jean seemed to receive some immense encouragement, and her heart was finally somewhat soothed.

She nodded lightly, adjusting her breathing.

Then, she finally took the initiative to walk forward.

"L-Long time no see, Barbara."

"Eh?"

Not expecting Acting Grand Master Jean to be here, Barbara's eyes lit up, and she quickly trotted towards her.

However, as she was about to approach, she suddenly remembered something and gradually slowed her steps.

Her clear eyes blinked, and her cute face, paired with a pure white dress, always gave off an extremely lively and bright aura.

Seeing her was like feeling a gentle breeze even in a windless world, making even the most restless and gloomy heart gradually lighten.

"L-Long time no see, Acting Grand Master Jean."

Lowering her head slightly, she walked in front of Acting Grand Master Jean.

Barbara's initial surprise was immediately hidden in her heart, replaced by a slightly flushed face.

Towards this Acting Grand Master of the Favonius, her older sister whom she had admired since childhood, her heart clearly could not be calm.

"Is this Barbara?"

Paimon curiously flew to his side, her gaze sweeping over Barbara, feeling a little familiar.

"What a cute girl!"

"And her eyes and hair color are so similar to Acting Grand Master Jean's."

"Uh... about that."

Kai thought for a moment. Although explaining this matter was quite complex, it could still be summarized in a simple sentence.

"They do look very similar, because they are sisters."

"Sisters?"

Paimon's adorable little face showed a hint of blankness.

"Mm."

Kai nodded again.

"Biological sisters, oh."

"Gasp!!!"

The sudden news clearly brought infinite shock to little Paimon, and her expression instantly froze.

She clearly hadn't expected to hear such a bombshell.

"Jean... Acting Grand Master Jean actually has a younger sister?"

She had never heard of this during her time in Mondstadt, and now seeing such a cute girl, her gaze fell on Acting Grand Master Jean, who, though gentle, exuded a slight air of authority due to her position as Acting Grand Master.

Paimon felt... are these two really sisters?

"Don't ask me for the details; if you have time, just ask Jean or Barbara yourselves."

Kai waved his hand, facing Paimon's eager desire for knowledge.

He clearly didn't intend to waste time on this.

Explaining things was quite complicated, especially the relationship between Acting Grand Master Jean and Barbara, which involved their parents.

And as for his father-in-law and mother-in-law... Kai thought for a moment, it was better not to say anything casually. If they wanted to know the answer, they should ask the parties involved themselves.

"We are here today to return the Holy Lyre der Himmel. This is the Honorary Knight Lumine, a hero who assisted the Knights of Favonius in resolving the Stormterror incident, and her... guide Paimon."

"As for this Bard, Venti, who is also one of the heroes, please... do not underestimate him, Barbara."

Considering that Barbatos did not want to expose his identity, Acting Grand Master Jean still used the pseudonym Venti when introducing him.

But to prevent her sister from accidentally offending him unknowingly, she thought for a moment and then added that last sentence.

However, Acting Grand Master Jean was clearly overly worried about this matter.

Hearing her sister's explanation, Barbara's clear eyes instantly lit up, revealing a bright gleam, like the warm light that could melt ice and snow in winter.

She thanked them very politely and earnestly: "So you are the heroes who helped Acting Grand Master Jean resolve the Stormterror incident?"

"Your deeds have spread throughout Mondstadt. May the Anemo God forever bless you. On behalf of myself and Mondstadt, I express my sincerest respect to all of you."

"Eh… spread throughout all of Mondstadt? We're already that famous?"

Paimon, always eager for attention, couldn't help but scratch her head upon hearing such news. Even she felt a slight blush at that moment.

"Of course, Acting Grand Master Jean has already explained everything about you and the Holy Lyre der Himmel to the Church… I can't believe all of this was done by the Fatui. They're truly despicable!"

The Fatui's tyrannical deeds were quite infamous throughout the continent of Teyvat, and this incident made Barbara feel it even more directly.

"Speaking of the Fatui, after the Knights of Favonius misunderstood us that night, Kai and I went to the Traveler to understand the situation, in order to solve the problem of the Holy Lyre der Himmel and Stormterror."

"That's why we forgot to attend your performance that night, and we forgot to notify you beforehand… I'm truly sorry."

The topic just happened to come up.

Jean thought for a moment, then took the opportunity to apologize to her sister.

"Jean… Acting Grand Master Jean doesn't need to feel guilty."

Seeing the other party's self-reproaching expression, Barbara waved her hand, explaining with a flustered look.

Clearly, Jean's apology was an immense pressure for Barbara.

"Instead, I should be learning from Acting Grand Master Jean, to always focus my energy on work and helping the residents of Mondstadt… I still have a long way to go."

Barbara greatly admired her sister, even trying to emulate Jean's behavior, wanting to catch up to her sister's pace.

Perhaps only then… could she be worthy of… being called that woman's sister.

Such a title, right?

"Good Hunter just got a new batch of Jueyun Chilis."

Just then, Kai walked up, looked at Barbara and Jean, and suddenly uttered a quiet remark.

Barbara's eyes instantly sparkled with a hint of light, and almost simultaneously, Kai's voice sounded again.

"Jean was just about to invite you to Good Hunter. Fresh Jueyun Chilis paired with perch caught from Cider Lake… I imagine Barbara would like Spicy Perch, wouldn't she?"

"I love it!"

Barbara blurted out instinctively.

After realizing the scene was slightly off, she immediately blushed, looking incredibly adorable.

"We… we'll talk about it later. Let's resolve the main issue first…"

"You brought the Holy Lyre der Himmel, right?"

"Although Acting Grand Master Jean vouched for it, it's not an unlimited say. His Eminence has been urging for a while now."

Barbara weakly changed the subject.

"I guess so…"

Kai shrugged, slightly shifting his distance.

He immediately passed the buck.

"You should ask them. The Holy Lyre der Himmel is in their care."
