Chapter 43 - Division

"A map?"

Hearing Lisa say that, Kai put down his book and walked over from the sofa.

As for Jean, she also left her office and walked towards Lisa.

"Diluc has already investigated three potential locations for the tear crystals."

Unrolling the Mondstadt map, Lisa slowly said.

On this map, Diluc had circled three locations in red, making them easy to spot.

"This is…"

"Temple of the Thousand Winds, Dadaupa Gorge, and… the Abandoned Ruins in the Forest?"

Looking at the marked locations, Jean murmured to herself, falling into thought.

"That's right."

Lisa nodded.

"After Diluc gave the map to the little darling, he set off for the Abandoned Ruins in the Forest."

"He should be arriving there soon, I imagine?"

"But Diluc… he still doesn't want to come to the Knights of Favonius, does he?"

Sighing softly, Lisa was clearly well aware of what had happened to Diluc in the past.

"So, the remaining locations are just the Temple of the Thousand Winds and Dadaupa Gorge?"

Kai said with a hint of ease.

Scanning the marked locations on the map, he suddenly asked, "So… how should we distribute the subsequent tasks?"

"Eh, Kai, do you mean you're also going to help?"

Paimon was slightly startled.

Hearing Kai's words, she looked at him with some disbelief.

She clearly hadn't expected it.

"I'll just help out a little with this matter."

Kai sighed helplessly.

To be honest… he truly didn't have much interest in fighting.

After all, he had fought countless times during his travels in various worlds before.

Especially after thoroughly familiarizing himself with the power he could control and losing his novelty for so-called Crossing (transmigration), fighting had long since become nothing more than a troublesome, physically demanding task for Kai.

Rather than going around fighting and showing off his power, he'd much rather lie comfortably on the sofa, sipping tea while secretly glancing at his wife—that was the life Kai most wished to live at the moment.

However, thinking of the danger Jean encountered yesterday at the Fatui stronghold, Kai thought it over and decided it would be better to personally take action.

He needed to quickly push the plot forward, then smoothly send the main characters out of Mondstadt.

That way, everything should return to its usual calm, right?

However, Jean was clearly unaware of these thoughts.

Seeing Kai actually offering to help, Jean pursed her lips, a smile immediately appearing on her face.

"If Kai helps, we'll have enough manpower."

"Then I'll take care of Dadaupa Gorge. Can I entrust Kai with taking the Traveler to collect the tear crystals from the Temple of the Thousand Winds?"

"Huh? You're not coming with me?"

Unexpectedly, Jean would arrange the tasks this way.

Kai was immediately stunned, feeling a bit surprised.

"Because I'm more familiar with Dadaupa Gorge," Jean replied softly, probably guessing what Kai was thinking.

She quickly added, "Don't forget I soloed Dadaupa Gorge two years ago. The Hilichurl tribes there still haven't recovered their strength, so it'll be fine."

Kai naturally knew about Jean's solo challenge of Dadaupa Gorge.

After all, their first meeting was on that very night.

However, even so, it didn't mean there was no risk at all for this outing.

After all, it was the same when they went to the Fatui stronghold earlier.

Even though Jean's strength had an overwhelming advantage against ordinary Fatui, and she even had the power to fight a Harbinger, even so, she nearly got into trouble when surrounded by a group of Hilichurl.

"Let the Traveler go with you instead. I'll handle the Temple of the Thousand Winds."

Kai frowned.

He clearly wasn't very comfortable with her going alone.

"Don't worry, Kai, I'll be with Jean this time too."

Seeing Kai's worried expression, Lisa yawned lazily beside him, slowly offering reassurance.

"Lisa is going too?"

"Yes~ Although I don't want to go out either, since everyone is working so hard for Dvalin's sake, I can't very well stay in the library and slack off by myself."

Lisa nodded, responding to Paimon's question.

"I'm somewhat familiar with Dadaupa Gorge."

"If I go with Jean, there absolutely won't be any problems, and you two should have dealt with all those Fatui yesterday, right?"

Last night, because of the lyre of the heavens, the Fatui within Mondstadt almost all moved out, but they were completely wiped out by Kai's offensive. Kai himself was aware of this.

"Those Fatui were just cannon fodder."

"They were eliminated, and that's that. They didn't have much fighting power to begin with."

Kai shook his head.

What he was worried about was the Harbinger called 'La Signora or The Fair Lady.'

Although according to the intelligence he had gathered at the time, the Lady should have followed the pursuing Fatui to the hidden location of the lyre of the heavens, Kai hadn't actually found her that night.

In other words, the Lady was still hidden in the shadows at this moment.

She could very well appear at any time and deliver a fatal blow to anyone.

"Alright~"

Unable to bear Kai's protective wife reaction any longer, Lisa sighed helplessly and quietly spoke.

"The Hilichurl have been overly active recently, and Jean and I had already considered clearing them out. Since you're so worried, Kai,"

"Then we'll gather the Knights of Favonius and set off together, treating it as a full-scale expedition against the Hilichurl tribes. This way, we'll openly dispatch a team."

"Even the Fatui wouldn't dare to act at a time like this."

At least from the current perspective, Mondstadt was still an allied nation of Snezhnaya.

Both sides still needed to maintain a certain degree of friendliness.

In such a situation, if the Fatui really dared to openly attack a Knights of Favonius expedition against the Hilichurl, it would be no different from declaring war.

Perhaps if a full-scale war truly broke out, the current Mondstadt indeed couldn't defeat Snezhnaya.

But once news of attacking an ally spread, the other five nations, no matter what they said, couldn't possibly ignore it.

This would shatter the dominant position on the Teyvat continent that Snezhnaya had worked so hard to maintain.

They wouldn't do such a foolish thing.

With things explained to this extent, even if Kai was still worried, he had no reason to refuse.

Jean slowly walked over and secretly grabbed Kai's sleeve.

She said earnestly, "Don't worry, Kai, I will definitely come back safely."

"I absolutely won't lie to you this time."
