The sky broke.
A massive crack stretched across the heavens, splitting the silver clouds apart and revealing a darkness that did not belong to the eighth world. It was deeper than night and emptier than space. There were no stars within it, no distant worlds, no traces of light. It was simply an absence, as though something had taken a piece of reality and erased everything that should have occupied it.
The colossal figure stood beyond that opening.
Only its upper body was visible above the horizon. Its shoulders disappeared into the clouds, while its enormous head towered over the mountains. The two colorless eyes stared directly toward Ayan.
The entire city fell silent.
People stood in the streets with their faces tilted upward. Children clung to their parents. Soldiers who had once marched toward the city with weapons now stood beside the people they had fought, their earlier differences forgotten.
Veyra spread its four enormous wings.
Lumen stood at the city gate.
Kai remained beside Ayan.
Seraphine stepped forward until her shoulder touched his.
"That's not a creature."
Ayan shook his head.
"No."
"What is it?"
Ayan stared at the giant.
"A message."
The colossal being opened its mouth.
"Return."
The word wasn't spoken loudly.
It didn't need to be.
The entire world heard it.
The silver grass bent.
The mountains trembled.
The rivers reversed their flow for a moment.
Even the air seemed to become heavier.
Ayan raised his weapon.
"No."
The creature's head tilted.
"You cannot remain."
Ayan's expression hardened.
"This is my home."
"You are not from here."
"I know."
"You do not belong."
Ayan smiled.
"Neither does anyone."
The creature remained silent.
Ayan continued.
"I wasn't born here."
"I wasn't created here."
"But I chose to live here."
He looked toward the city.
"That's enough."
The creature's eyes narrowed.
"Choice is irrelevant."
Ayan's expression changed.
"No."
His voice became colder.
"That's the one thing you don't understand."
The creature raised its enormous hand.
The sky darkened.
Ayan immediately shouted.
"Everyone!"
The people looked toward him.
"Get underground!"
The soldiers didn't hesitate.
They began moving civilians toward the shelters.
Lumen raised both hands.
Silver energy spread across the city.
A massive barrier formed above the buildings.
Veyra launched itself into the sky.
Its enormous wings created a hurricane.
Seraphine stood beside Ayan.
"What's the plan?"
Ayan looked toward the creature.
"Survive the first attack."
Maren appeared behind them.
"That's the plan?"
"For now."
Maren sighed.
"At least it's honest."
The colossal hand descended.
It moved slowly.
Yet its shadow covered the entire city.
Lumen's barrier brightened.
The hand touched it.
The world exploded.
A shockwave tore across the plains.
Trees were ripped from the ground.
Mountains cracked.
The city walls collapsed.
Lumen screamed as the barrier strained.
Ayan immediately moved.
The Bridge activated.
Silver lines appeared throughout the city.
Ayan connected them.
The barrier strengthened.
Seraphine added her power.
Mira and the soldiers helped move the remaining civilians.
Veyra attacked the giant's arm.
The dragon's jaws opened.
A beam of silver fire erupted.
It struck the creature.
Nothing happened.
Veyra roared in frustration.
The creature looked toward the dragon.
"Life."
Its voice echoed.
"Unexpected."
Veyra growled.
Then the creature flicked its finger.
Veyra was thrown across the sky.
The dragon crashed through three mountains before finally stopping.
Lumen's eyes widened.
"Veyra!"
The child tried to run toward it.
Ayan grabbed his shoulder.
"Stay."
"But—"
"You can't help it from there."
Lumen's hands trembled.
"I can."
"Not yet."
Ayan looked at the colossal being.
"Wait."
The creature raised its hand again.
Ayan stared.
This time, he didn't wait.
He stepped forward.
The Bridge opened completely.
Silver lines connected to every living thing in the eighth world.
Every person.
Every creature.
Every tree.
Every river.
Ayan felt them.
Fear.
Hope.
Anger.
Confusion.
Love.
The world itself.
He didn't control them.
He simply connected to them.
Then he spoke.
"Stand."
The people looked toward the sky.
"You're afraid."
Many nodded.
"Good."
Ayan smiled.
"You should be."
The giant's hand descended again.
"But being afraid doesn't mean you have to kneel."
The soldiers raised their weapons.
Lumen stood.
Veyra slowly rose from the distant mountains.
Mira drew her bow.
Maren tightened his grip.
Seraphine stepped beside Ayan.
The people stood together.
Ayan raised his weapon.
"Stand."
The word echoed.
The eighth world responded.
The silver star above them became brighter.
The rivers began glowing.
The mountains hummed.
The giant's hand struck.
This time, the barrier didn't break.
It held.
The entire world shook.
Ayan's feet dug into the ground.
Blood flowed from his nose.
His arms trembled.
Seraphine grabbed his shoulder.
"You're pushing too hard."
"I know."
"Then stop."
"Not yet."
"Ayan."
He looked at her.
"If I stop, they get hurt."
She stared at him.
Then nodded.
"Then I won't let you do it alone."
She placed her hand over his.
Silver energy merged with his.
Mira joined.
Then Maren.
Then Rowan.
Then Lumen.
Veyra flew overhead and released a massive wave of silver energy.
One after another, the people began contributing.
The barrier changed.
It wasn't Ayan's anymore.
It belonged to everyone.
The giant's hand stopped.
For the first time, the colossal being looked surprised.
"Interesting."
Ayan smiled through the blood on his face.
"You're learning."
The creature slowly withdrew its hand.
The barrier remained.
The city was damaged.
Buildings had collapsed.
Several streets were destroyed.
But the people were alive.
Ayan looked toward the giant.
"What now?"
The creature stared at the barrier.
Then it looked toward the people.
"You have changed."
Ayan nodded.
"So have they."
"You have given them your power."
"No."
Ayan looked around.
"They gave it to each other."
The creature remained silent.
Then its body began changing.
The enormous figure became thinner.
Its shape shifted.
The clouds around it disappeared.
A humanoid figure emerged.
It was still enormous, but now Ayan could see its features.
Its face was completely blank.
No nose.
No mouth.
Only two colorless eyes.
It raised one hand.
The sky folded.
Ayan's expression changed.
"Everyone back!"
The creature disappeared.
Ayan immediately activated the Bridge.
Nothing.
He couldn't sense it.
Then Seraphine shouted.
"Behind you!"
Ayan turned.
The creature was standing directly behind him.
Its hand was already moving.
Ayan blocked.
The impact sent him flying.
He crashed through the city wall.
Stone shattered around him.
Seraphine attacked.
Her blade struck the creature's chest.
The blade disappeared.
Not broke.
Disappeared.
Seraphine stared.
The creature looked at her.
"Your weapon does not exist here."
She stepped backward.
"What?"
The creature raised its hand.
Ayan appeared between them.
He struck.
The creature blocked.
Their hands collided.
For a moment, neither moved.
Ayan's eyes widened.
The creature was physically stronger.
Much stronger.
But there was something else.
It didn't understand movement.
It predicted it.
Every time Ayan changed direction, the creature already knew where he would go.
Ayan kicked.
Blocked.
Elbow.
Blocked.
Sword.
Blocked.
The creature countered.
Ayan dodged.
A second strike.
He blocked.
A third.
His arm went numb.
The creature pushed him backward.
"You cannot defeat me."
Ayan wiped blood from his mouth.
"I don't have to."
The creature tilted its head.
"Explain."
Ayan smiled.
"You're a messenger."
The creature became still.
"Yes."
"You were sent here to retrieve me."
"Yes."
"Which means you're connected to something."
The creature's eyes narrowed.
Ayan activated the Bridge.
Not toward the creature.
Past it.
He searched for the connection behind it.
There.
A black line.
Thin.
Almost invisible.
It stretched beyond the sky.
Beyond the eighth world.
Beyond the seven worlds.
Into the Outside.
Ayan smiled.
"Found you."
The creature immediately attacked.
Ayan dodged.
The ground exploded.
Seraphine moved beside him.
"What did you find?"
"A connection."
"To the Outside?"
"Yes."
"Can you cut it?"
Ayan looked at the line.
"Maybe."
The creature charged.
Veyra descended from the sky.
The dragon slammed into it.
The creature staggered.
Veyra bit down on its shoulder.
For the first time, the creature made a sound.
A roar.
Veyra was thrown aside.
But it had bought Ayan enough time.
Ayan raised his hand.
The Bridge transformed.
Silver lines became chains.
They wrapped around the black connection.
The creature suddenly screamed.
"No."
Ayan pulled.
The line tightened.
The creature's body began cracking.
"You cannot sever what you do not understand."
Ayan smiled.
"I understand enough."
The creature attacked.
Seraphine blocked it.
Mira fired.
Her arrow struck its eye.
The creature recoiled.
Maren attacked its legs.
Lumen raised a barrier around Ayan.
Veyra returned.
Everyone fought together.
Not against the creature itself.
Against the connection.
Ayan pulled again.
The black line began breaking.
The creature screamed.
Its voice shook the world.
"STOP."
Ayan gritted his teeth.
"No."
The line cracked.
A flash of colorless light exploded across the sky.
Ayan saw something through the opening.
A place beyond reality.
A vast white ocean.
Countless beings floating within it.
And in the distance...
a single enormous eye.
The same colorless eye.
It was looking toward him.
Ayan froze.
The eye spoke.
Not aloud.
Inside his mind.
**You still don't understand.**
Ayan stared.
"Then explain."
**You are not my prisoner.**
Ayan's expression changed.
"What?"
The eye widened.
**You are my prison.**
Everything stopped.
The battle.
The wind.
The movement of the world.
For one moment, Ayan couldn't breathe.
The voice continued.
**You think you escaped me.**
**You think I followed you.**
**You think I want you back.**
Ayan's heart pounded.
**You were wrong.**
The eye moved closer.
**I am trying to escape you.**
Ayan's expression became pale.
The black connection suddenly shattered.
The messenger screamed.
Its body began collapsing.
The enormous figure broke apart into thousands of fragments.
But before disappearing, it looked at Ayan.
Not with anger.
With fear.
Then it whispered:
"Run."
Ayan froze.
The creature disappeared.
Silence returned.
The sky closed.
The black cracks vanished.
The world was still.
Ayan stood in the middle of the ruined city.
Nobody spoke.
Then Lumen approached.
"Is it over?"
Ayan looked toward the sky.
"No."
Seraphine stepped closer.
"What did it say?"
Ayan looked at her.
"It wasn't sent to bring me back."
"Then why?"
Ayan's voice was quiet.
"It was running from me."
Seraphine stared.
"Why?"
Ayan looked at his hands.
"I don't know."
Kai appeared beside them.
The child's expression was unlike anything Ayan had seen before.
He looked terrified.
Ayan noticed immediately.
"Kai."
The child didn't answer.
"Kai."
Finally, he looked up.
"Ayan."
"What did you see?"
Kai swallowed.
"The Outside."
Ayan nodded.
"I saw it too."
"No."
Kai shook his head.
"You don't understand."
Ayan waited.
Kai's voice trembled.
"It wasn't looking at you."
Ayan frowned.
"What?"
"It was looking behind you."
Ayan slowly turned.
Nothing was there.
Kai continued.
"It wasn't afraid of you."
"It was afraid of what was inside you."
Ayan's heart sank.
"The limitless self?"
Kai shook his head.
"No."
"Eon?"
"No."
"The original?"
"No."
Ayan stared at him.
"Then what?"
Kai looked at Ayan's shadow.
Ayan followed his gaze.
His shadow was wrong.
It had two heads.
Ayan's.
And another.
Something stood behind him.
A figure.
Thin.
Tall.
Completely black.
It had no eyes.
No mouth.
No features.
But it was smiling.
Ayan slowly turned.
Nothing.
He looked at the ground again.
The shadow remained.
Kai stepped backward.
"I thought it was gone."
Ayan's voice became quiet.
"What is it?"
Kai stared at the shadow.
"The part of you that even you forgot."
Ayan's expression hardened.
"Explain."
"I can't."
"Why?"
"Because it isn't your past."
Kai looked terrified.
"It's your future."
The shadow moved.
Ayan's body went cold.
The figure inside his shadow raised one hand.
Then pointed toward the horizon.
Ayan looked.
The eighth world's silver star had turned black.
A second star appeared beside it.
Then a third.
Then hundreds.
Thousands.
The sky was filling with black stars.
Every one of them was an eye.
Ayan's expression became grim.
Kai whispered:
"The Outside wasn't invading."
Ayan stared upward.
"It was hiding."
"From what?"
Kai looked at Ayan.
"From you."
Ayan's hand tightened around his weapon.
The black stars opened.
And every eye looked toward him.
Then a voice came from the entire sky.
**Now you remember enough.**
Ayan's heart stopped.
**Now you can see us.**
The stars began descending.
Not toward the city.
Toward Ayan.
Seraphine stepped beside him.
"What do we do?"
Ayan stared upward.
Then he smiled.
A tired smile.
The kind he had worn countless times before.
"We fight."
Kai shook his head.
"No."
Ayan looked at him.
Kai pointed toward the ground.
"Look."
The earth beneath Ayan's feet had begun glowing.
A massive symbol was forming.
Ayan recognized it immediately.
The same symbol from the first Door.
The same symbol from the first civilization.
The same symbol from his oldest memory.
But this time...
it wasn't opening a Door.
It was opening him.
Ayan's expression changed.
"What is happening?"
Kai whispered:
"You're waking up."
Ayan's eyes widened.
"I don't want to."
"I know."
The symbol brightened.
Seraphine grabbed Ayan's hand.
"Then don't do it alone."
Ayan looked at her.
She smiled.
"Whatever happens..."
She tightened her grip.
"...we face it together."
Ayan smiled.
"Together."
The symbol exploded with light.
The entire eighth world disappeared.
Ayan was falling.
Not through space.
Not through time.
Through himself.
He passed memories.
Worlds.
Possibilities.
Lives.
Deaths.
Creation.
Destruction.
Then he saw the truth.
A door.
A simple white door.
Behind it stood a young Ayan.
Not the First Ayan.
Not the human Ayan.
Not the limitless Ayan.
Something between all of them.
The child looked at him.
"You finally came."
Ayan stopped.
"Who are you?"
The child smiled.
"The choice you haven't made yet."
Ayan's expression changed.
"What choice?"
The child opened the Door.
"Whether you want to remain Ayan..."
He stepped aside.
"...or become what you were before Ayan existed."
Ayan stared into the white room.
Something waited inside.
Something immense.
Something familiar.
And for the first time...
Ayan realized the war against the Outside was not beginning.
It had already happened.
Long before he was born.
Long before the worlds existed.
Long before Kai.
Long before Elena.
Long before the Origin.
And perhaps...
the entire life he had lived was nothing more than the final battle of a war he had already forgotten.
The child held out his hand.
"Choose."
Ayan looked at it.
Then toward the distant voice of Seraphine.
He heard her calling his name.
"Ayan!"
He closed his eyes.
He smiled.
Then he reached forward.
Not toward the child.
Toward Seraphine's voice.
"I choose..."
The world shattered.
And the answer disappeared before anyone could hear it.
