Chapter 63 - shone down

Now, the afternoon sun shone down on the two humans still standing there, Claire and Rena.

The sky, which had previously been lit by the brightness of midday, was now slowly being covered by the orange light of the afternoon.

But what hadn't changed was clearly the smell...

The piercing stench of the half-monster males gathered nearby.

And also... the smell of a fallen hero...

Hero Anna.

Now, there was nothing left for the two humans to do in that place. And of course, they couldn't just leave both of them behind.

Clapping her hands together, Claire concluded while looking at Rena.

Alright!!!!

Rena, help me!!!

Hearing that, Rena opened both her palms and glanced briefly at Anna and Tina, muttering.

Alright, Hero Claire!!

Quickly, Claire cradled Anna in her arms.

With both hands, she truly carried that stiff body—it felt too light in her lap. It truly felt like an empty body wrapped in bones, as if its blood had been drained until nothing remained.

Meanwhile, Rena quickly approached Claire, who was cradling Anna, and with both hands perfectly positioned—as if feeling no weight at all—she said.

Now, where do we go, Hero Claire??

Rena's voice now sounded calm, even though on the other hand, her eyes clearly showed that none of this was okay...

Instantly, Hero Claire glanced briefly at Anna's corpse and Tina's body, then muttered.

Hmm....

Then Claire, with her squinting eyes, now looked toward the west, shaking her head gently.

It doesn't seem right...

This will be a problem...

Hearing that, Rena understood what she meant slightly, then looked at Tina's body cradled in her arms.

With her lips slightly parted, Claire concluded.

If we take Anna and Tina with their clear identities like this, it will be a problem...

Especially Tina...

Then Hero Claire briefly directed her gaze toward Rena.

Taking her directly to her kingdom will make things complicated...

Hearing that, Rena was slightly startled, her jaw now tensing.

Then!!! What about Hero Anna??

Can't we take her to Lionia?!!!!

Hearing that, Hero Claire briefly looked at Anna's corpse and Rena, who now stood frozen, full of questions.

With a small sigh, Claire looked toward the east, turning her back to Rena.

Hufftt!!!

We can still take her, Rena.

Hearing that, Rena's cheeks immediately lifted. But before she could react, Hero Claire continued.

But!!!

We need to hide her identity..

Claire's voice was clear.

No words were misheard.

Truly calm.

Now Rena, hearing that, lowered her face until shadows covered her eyes.

No further words came from Rena's mouth.

Silence...

Only the silence of the afternoon in the middle of that unusual field.

The wind now enveloped the two bodies being carried—one whose entire body was stiff, and another whose head was simply too stiff.

With arched brows, Claire spoke, her jaw also tensing.

Let's go, Rena...

We're leaving..

Hearing that, with a voice too flat for this situation, Rena could only follow Hero Claire.

Under the afternoon sky,

Rena and Claire slowly left that area on their own two feet.

Carrying one hero who had fallen.

And one hero who had not yet awakened.

But one thing was clear—behind their footsteps, none of this would easily let go, and it would continue to follow them throughout their journey toward Lionia.
