The convoy didn't use sirens. In the Superpower Wastes, noise was a death sentence.
Three reinforced black SUVs, salvaged and modified with Architectural Reinforcement, tore through the cracked asphalt of the city's industrial district. Kaelen sat in the back of the lead vehicle, his eyes closed, feeling the pulse of the city through the tires.
[System Notification: Entering Grade-A Danger Zone: The Commerce District. Detection of high-level Void signatures.]
"Boss, we're two blocks from the Bank of Commerce," Jax's voice came over the comms, tight with tension. "Thermal scans are showing movement on the rooftops. These aren't Stalkers. They're too big."
Kaelen opened his eyes. They were glowing with a steady, lethal crimson. "They're Gargoyles. Stone-skinned drones of the Void. They don't hunt for food; they hunt to protect the Rifts. And right now, we're trespassing."
Suddenly, the lead SUV rocked. A massive, grey shape slammed into the hood from a five-story height, crushing the engine block instantly. The vehicle flipped, skidding across the pavement in a shower of sparks.
Kaelen didn't wait for the car to stop. He kicked the door open while the SUV was still sliding, rolling out and coming to a standing position in one fluid motion.
Above him, the sky was thick with leathery wings. Hundreds of Gargoyles were perched on the skeletons of skyscrapers, their glowing yellow eyes fixed on the intruders.
"Open fire!" Jax screamed, as the other two SUVs skidded to a halt and the Wolves poured out, rifles blazing.
The sapphire energy bolts hissed through the air, but the Gargoyles' skin was literal stone. The shots bounced off, leaving only shallow carbon scoring. One of the creatures dove, its talons shearing through a Wolf's shoulder like a hot knife through butter.
"Fall back to the bank entrance!" Kaelen roared, his voice cutting through the gunfire.
He didn't run. He walked toward the center of the intersection, his long coat billowing.
[Skill Activated: Sovereign's Domain.]
The air within a hundred meters of Kaelen suddenly became thick. The Gargoyles that were mid-dive suddenly felt their wings grow heavy. The "True Intent" of a Mafia God wasn't just a psychological trick—it was a physical weight.
"You think your skin is hard?" Kaelen whispered, looking up at the swarm. "I am the Architect. I built this city. I know exactly how to tear it down."
He slammed his palm onto the ground.
[Ultimate Skill: Structural Collapse.]
The street groaned. The metal support beams of the surrounding dilapidated buildings, long since weakened by the Zero-Day Rifts, suddenly vibrated in resonance with Kaelen's power.
With a sickening crunch, the facades of two office buildings began to peel away. Kaelen wasn't just destroying them; he was steering the rubble. Tons of concrete and steel rebar twisted in mid-air, forming a localized hurricane of debris that swept through the sky, crushing the stone-skinned monsters like insects against a windshield.
The screeching was deafening. Dust blinded everyone—except Kaelen. His Architect's vision tracked every falling brick.
In thirty seconds, the intersection was silent. A pile of rubble thirty feet high lay where the monsters had been, and a clear path had been carved directly to the heavy vault doors of the Bank of Commerce.
The Wolves stood paralyzed, their weapons lowered. They had seen Kaelen fight before, but this... this was the power of a god.
Kaelen turned, his eyes fading back to black, though the coldness remained.
"The vault," he said, walking past Jax, who was shaking. "We have ten minutes before the Echelon's drones arrive to investigate the seismic signature. I want every System-Core in that basement."
As they moved toward the bank, Kaelen glanced at a nearby security camera that was surprisingly still powered by a backup Rift-battery. He knew who was on the other side of that lens. He didn't avoid it. He stared directly into it and mouthed four words:
"My city. My rules."
Miles away, in a sterilized bunker, a high-ranking Echelon officer watched the screen go dark.
"Find out who that man is," the officer ordered. "And if we can't recruit him... delete him."

"The Architect doesn't just build—he destroys! Kaelen just sent a direct message to the Echelon. 💣🏙️
