Faust had killed 30 Goblins in the ten minutes of his arrival. They were all level 2, speccing mainly in Agility, and decent with weapons.
But he was a tornado of carnage among them. His form flickering between different moves and just flashing from point to point.
In an instant 20 more goblins died. The defenders behind the stone barricades watched him with undisguised awe.
"Who the hell is that?"
"That Agility is unreal!"
Faust smiled at them before giving a brief salute and jumping back up the wall. He rose around 10 feet from a simple jump, but once his foot touched the side of the wall he used Dash to cross the distance and get to the top.
The world was slowed in between the seconds he used dash, allowing him to survey the walls of the Novice Village.
The simple wooden walls had been reinforced with taller stone walls that were a bit uneven and poorly made, but still impressive.
Is there anyone who has earth magic that makes walls? Even then, this looks sculpted… like it was made to fortify a castle. Even if it wasn't finished well.
It was impressive how much the defenders had prepared for the battle. But they still had some stupid decisions.
Why were they engaging the goblins in the city? Why weren't there any proper fighters up on the walls to defend the mages against assassins. If they had earth magic, why didn't they build a moat? Someone had to have some busted schema related to water.
Even the numbers of people fighting was pitiful.
He arrived at the top of the walls again and the mages flinched at his arrival, but gave him stiff nods.
The Goblin mages had fired again, but he rendered them useless by using Instance Replication. He could only replicate ten spells at once, but with how close the spells were the explosions detonated the leftovers nearby.
In the meantime, he stared over the city. On the walls surrounding the city, he could see about three hundred people patrolling. Mages meant to attack the goblins flanking them.
That's such a waste of time.
Stronger players should face those small teams of goblins circling the walls, while the mages focus fire on the enemy coming from the north.
A huge rainbow tear in reality had opened in the Slime field, spilling prismatic light into dusk.
Finally, I thought night only existed in the Mind's Forest.
The tear was far from the village but so large they could see it from anywhere. It was a gate to another place. Maybe another world.
And Goblins were pouring from it. They were green creatures the size of a middle schooler, but they numbered in the thousands.
That still shouldn't be enough to overwhelm us.
Faust must have counted more than five thousand people in the Novice Village before he left. If they moved in one accord these goblins would have been flattened in seconds.
This was a fiasco. A complete dogshit strategy.
But the human side had some luck. This was all they would see from the first wave. Suddenly the gate closed, ending the flow of goblins into this dimension.
Their enemies were thinning, only about three hundred goblins were left in the Slime Fields. Faust left it to the others to defeat them, while he scanned the mages for an interesting Schema.
Now that I'm level 5 I should be able to copy more than one Schema.
And true to the system's words, five threads of crimson light stretched from him to the mages. He could replicate five different Schema.
He checked the other forty people on the walls with him and only those five even had Schema.
It's pretty rare I guess.
[Schema: Commander's Foresight]
[Rank: Silver]
[Details: Your ability to command troops has improved.]
[Schema Abilities: Strategic Point, Path of Retreat]
The Mage Captain had an interesting Schema, although weaker than his or Nirvana's. He decided not to take it, and save space for copying someone else's schema.
The others were decent.
[Schema: Scorched Earth]
[Rank: Iron]
[Details: All fire based attacks are stronger and cost less mana.]
[Schema Abilities: Burning Field]
[Burning Field (Iron): Leaves a burning effect on the ground for five seconds]
Yoink, he thought as he saw the Schema, taking it for himself. His schema was broken for knowing exactly what your enemies could do.
[Note: You have 24hrs to defeat the user of this Schema and retain their abilities]
With the Shaman's Necklace, his 100 Spirit, the focus skill, and now the Scorched Earth Schema, he was a bit of a cannon himself.
He moved to the next Schema.
[Schema: Pet owner]
[Rank: Bronze]
[Details: Bind a monster or creature of lower intelligence to yourself to gain an Attribute boost while it lives.]
[Schema Abilities: Symbiosis]
He had planned to skip on this one too, but kept it. The Symbiosis skill allowed the Pet and Owner to share fifty percent of their Attributes. It was actually pretty good.
The last two Schema were [Mapmaker (Bronze)], which he ignored, and [Earth Serpent (Iron)], which allowed him greater control over his earth magic.
He didn't have any earth spells, but if he replicated one he could probably use it. Maybe not. But he did like the skill. And it could summon the earth serpent from the ground for ten seconds.
[Name: Faust Havlicek]

[Constitution: 160 (+50)]
[Strength: 115(+95)]
[Agility: 180 (+40)]
[Spirit: 119 (+40)]
[Schema: The Perfect Match, Scorched Earth, Pet Owner, Earth Serpent]
[Schema Abilities: Schema Replication, Instance Replication, Burning Field, Symbiosis, Serpent's Call]
[Skills: Mirage Lv3, Appraise Lv3, Acid Shot Lv3, Severe Hit Lv2, Dark Maw Lv2, Dash Lv2, Observe Lv2, Fireball Lv2, Rage Strike Lv2, Focus Lv2, Craft Golem Lv1, Bolster Lv1]

[Combat Power: 532 (+175)]
[Origin Coins: 2519]
[System: 100% Drop Rate]
His combat power was effective enough to face any level 7 monster. And the Beast Tide was only bringing out Level 1s and 2s.
It'll increase with each wave probably. By the fifth wave we'll be facing some monsters at level 5 or 6.
The battle had drawn to a close. A fireball eradicated the last five goblins and the smoking battlefield was tense with the sound of fires burning and dying people moaning.
Ding!
[The First wave has ended. All rewards will be distributed to participants in thirty minutes.]
[The next wave arrives in an hour!]
Someone let out a triumphant cry somewhere and soon it was followed by a sea of voices. People cried, hugging the ones that lived. Others jumped excitedly and sang songs of victory.
The songs were mostly insulting the goblins and system, but Faust found some of them catchy.
However not long after a voice rumbled over the city, drowning out the happy songs.
"MEETING IN THE VILLAGE SQUARE! PLEASE COME QUICKLY!"
