Chapter 44 - Report 36- Preparation

Albert's home.

"I see…" Albert said out back in his house's back yard. "So that is All Might's and Midoriya's quirk. One For All… and their nemesis, All For One. Heh. Interesting. To think after 100 years that quirk has evolved to be such a powerhouse."

"Does it anger you?" Mélusine said.

"Not particularly. It just makes me chuckle a bit. I am the product of hundreds of years of eugenics, living breathing Gattaca."

Mélusine could feel and hear a slight hint of jealousy, maybe inferiority? It was new to her and even Albert himself.

"Hmm… Shall we get back to sparing? Your Mana Burst still needs work."

"Yeah, I am in the mood to get humbled."

The two engaged in a somewhat serious spar, nothing that would cause to much noise or trouble. Mélusine's attacks were fast and heavy, Albert mostly avoided her attacks and throwing a few punches.

He slowly worked on improving himself to one day stand with her on equal footing. From what he has experienced that is still a long time away.

[Ding! Mana Burst ranked up!]

Some days later.

"Alright before everyone leaves I have announcement." Aizawa said. "As you know summer is close at hand and it would and will be stupid for you all to take the month off."

"D-don't tell me!!" shouted Kaminari.

"That's right, y'all going to summer camp in the woods."

"Not the beach?" asked Mineta.

"To expensive."

"But this is U.A.?"

"You think were made of money? Oh, speaking of money, anyone who doesn't pass the upcoming exam will have their summer school turn from a nice lodge in the woods to a Cabin in the Woods. If any of you get that… yeah. Not very nice."

"Albert!!!" All the more muscle headed type of people roared out to him immediately in desperation. "Can you please help!!"

"Busy, got stuff to do." Albert answered as he doodles some stuff in his notes.

'Hmm… Wings are to impractical. Mel uses… Magic I guess to float in midair? So maybe something that lets me cover distance without much effort?'

"Before you go today Albert." Aizawa walks over and cuts in. "Can you come to the Administration Office?"

"What for?"

"You're not in trouble we want to talk to you about something."

"Fine."

After school in the Administration Office. There were a few teachers waiting there.

"Albert." Nezu said.

"Principal." Albert gazed at all of his teachers. "Sensei." He looked to Aizawa. "I thought you said I'm not in trouble?"

"You're not." He responded.

"We are here to allow you to be the first student to complete their practical exam." Nezu spoke.

"Oh. That's nice but why early?"

"Albert as you know the recent times have been… Hmm… Rough for the students what with the increase in villain activity and the USJ incident. Thus we all came together and decided that the students practical exams will be—"

"You the staff." Albert cuts him off.

"Clever as always." He nodded.

"Originally." Midnight spoke up. "We were just gonna pass you without you taking it. Principal Nezu and All Might even vouched for you and we all are fine with it."

Albert made quick glances at the two. They both nodded.

"But you guys still wanna see if I am capable right?"

"Not exactly." Said Snipe. "You see not just only the principal, and All Might vouched for you but even the hero you interned under, Mirko, gave you a stellar review. You can handle your own, so we are holding this exam as less of a thing you require but more along the lines of a… test to measure how far along you are compared to your peers."

Albert didn't really know what to say. Other than that he was looking forward to facing some pro-heroes.

"So when and who will it be?"

His answer didn't surprise the teachers, Albert has the right to be that proud. It would be a lie to say they also did this so they can humble him, but Albert was still considerate enough to know his place and situation. The truth was the teachers wanted—needed to know what he can do, his full capabilities when compared to the pros. Nezu and All Might were no different, they wanted to know how perfect was the Adam Project.

"Me." All Might said stepping forward. "And it will be held tomorrow."

"Fine by me. If this is all I will be going now."

"Yes, that is all."

Albert bows and leaves.

'Facing All Might huh? Heh. Perfect. He is the preparation for All For One. But even at my fastest All Might can still blitz me if I am not careful. Need more tools then just my body, wits, and guns but what could—'

"Oh?" Albert remembers the activity at Field Gamma. "Yes, that can work." He stops himself and changes direction.

"Where are you going Albert?" Mélusine asked.

"The support department. I need to make some things." He got out his phone and began to google some things. "I know how I'm going to fly."

As he walks while searching things up, two students walk past him.

"Mirio should we go and bring back some food for Miss Nejire and Sir Tamaki!" said Ushiwaka in U.A.'s uniform.

"Maybe something from the convenience store?" said Mirio. "She has really been working hard after her work from her internship to improve her stamina!"

As they walked Mirio stopped and turned to look back at Albert.

"Is something wrong?" Ushiwaka asked him.

"… No. I am just looking at a promising junior!" he smiled as he turned back around. "Lets go get Nejire and Tamaki some food!"

Arriving at the support department he enters to see only one person, a student. She was working very, very diligently.

"Hm." Albert ignored her and went about his way as if he owned the place.

His eyes darted around the area and slowly began to build the gear in his mind and it's mechanics. Material to tools were all taken into account.

'Where are the chemicals?'

He looked into the back and found a locked glass shelf.

Albert grabbed a thin piece of metal laying around and bent it. Holding the lock firmly Albert quickly picked it after 30 seconds of trying.

"Now I can get to work."

He got what he needed and went to an area with the least amount of stuff on it and began to work. He was quite skilled in building stuff, there are a few times he had to MacGyver his way out of situations.

Bzzz!!

Bwhoosh!!

Kirk!!

Tsss~!

Thud-Thud!

Bubble!!

Crank!

Four hours of work in total. He was methodical in how he built it with great caution and boldness.

"Fuu~" Albert holds in his hands his gear, his tools that will grant him far better mobility. "Finally, my wings."

"Uuuuo!!!"

"Hm?"

Albert turned to see the student with salmon pink hair and cross eyes that looks like a scope's lens.

'Those eyes.' Albert was reminded of someone. 'They remind of Lady Nagant… Damn shame she got arrested. She was a good shot.'

"Did you make those cute babies!!" she said amazed.

"Yeah. I did." He puts them away and gets up. "How long were you watching me?"

Albert was so focused on his work that he didn't pay attention to the student who was herself absorbed in her own work at the time.

"Five minutes!!"

Albert feels her intense gaze directed towards him, but they were more on his gear.

'No wonder I didn't feel her, she wasn't looking at me but the tools I was making.'

"Well I should be going." He couldn't even take a step before she held out her hand.

"I am Mei Hatsume! What is the name of your baby!" She said smiling ear to ear.

She had a very upbeat energy mixed with a door to door salesman.

"… They need to earn their names first." He held out his hand and shook her hand. "Albert Hiroyuki."

"Hm! Hm! I'll remember your name!"

"Yes well when they pass the test I will give them their names."

"Hm! I see! Personally I like to give all my creations a name! Even if they fail or not! A creation should have a name! Like this one!" She held up some odd device. "This one is Baby #314!"

Albert felt his heart sting before making a stiff expression. He did not like the name, not one bit.

"… Yeah. Maybe some names shouldn't have numbers." Albert smiled lightly while putting his hand back to his side. "It was nice to meet and talk with you." He nods and walks away.

"Okay! Bye!!" she waved him away. "Come by again!"

"I'll think about it!" He waved back.

While walking away Albert got in an odd mood. His emotions were high for some reason.

'Did her comments piss me off? Absurd. What could—Could it be puberty? Handler said that teens are very emotional. Yes. I will chalk it up to that and maintain a firm hold on how I feel.'

He buried that sting to the soul in a bottle.
