Chapter 73 - Gambling With Hakari

"Gojo-sensei, what brings you to the casino to hang out today?"

"I'm not here to hang out. I came today to invite you both back to Tokyo Jujutsu High. The Jujutsu World is about to be turned upside down."

Satoru explained the difficult situation the Jujutsu World was facing and also told them the news about Tengen's incident.

After hearing this, Hoshi Kirara looked at Hakari Kinji with concern, while Hakari Kinji closed his eyes in contemplation.

After a while, he spoke, "Gojo-sensei, you should know that the current Jujutsu World isn't worth saving. I don't think it's a bad thing to let the Kenjaku and Sukuna you mentioned cleanse the entire Higher-Ups of the Jujutsu World."

"Gojo-sensei, you could rally capable and convicted Jujutsu Sorcerers to your side and create an entirely new Jujutsu World. If you need me at that time, I certainly won't refuse. However, if you're asking me to protect this already rotten Jujutsu World, please allow me to refuse."

Satoru seemed to have expected Hakari Kinji to say this. He leaned back, resting his arms on the chair, and said, "Is that so? Then let's decide this in the way you like best. Let's make a bet. If you lose, you come back to Tokyo Jujutsu High with me. If you win, we'll immediately cleanse all the Higher-Ups of the current Jujutsu World together. How about that? Not bad, right?"

"Of course, I won't bet against you, that would be bullying you a bit. Let's have this first-year student next to me gamble against you."

This generous stake made Hakari Kinji somewhat tempted.

Did he really not want to be a Jujutsu Sorcerer?

Not at all, he just simply couldn't stand the current Higher-Ups of the Jujutsu World. Like Satoru, he desperately hoped for a thriving Jujutsu World.

Furthermore, the guy next to Satoru clearly looked like a novice who had never set foot in a casino. The advantage was his. So... he took the bet.

Hakari Kinji and Hoshi Kirara brought the two to a luxury private room, where the original guests were grabbed by the collar and thrown out by Hakari Kinji.

"Then let's roll dice. Two chips each. Losing all chips counts as a loss. As long as I don't catch you, you can cheat as much as you want. And I'll even let you shake the dice, Gojo-sensei."

Satoru declined, "No need, let Kirara do it. I'm not good at this sort of thing."

Satoru was deliberately letting Shin take the stage. After all, although his Six Eyes were extremely sensitive to objects containing Cursed Energy and could even use abilities similar to X-ray vision, once faced with something completely devoid of Cursed Energy, the Six Eyes were left with only extremely high observational skills and could not see the dice inside the cup at all.

But Shin was different. First, he could use his age and appearance to confuse his opponent.

Second, and most importantly, although Shin didn't know what the number in the cup was, he could make it whatever number he wanted.

Satoru couldn't even imagine how Hakari Kinji would win. In his heart, he was already cackling.

Shin and Hakari Kinji sat on opposite sides of the gambling table, while Hoshi Kirara pushed the dice cup and three dice toward Shin, letting him inspect them first.

Shin pushed the items straight back and said, "I trust you, Hoshi-senpai, no need to inspect them."

In reality, Shin was a complete layman who had no idea what he was doing. He only knew that he could bet on big or small, or directly bet on the total points, he didn't know anything else.

At some point, Hakari Kinji had produced a handful of small steel balls that kept sliding from his hand onto the gambling table before being snatched back up, while Shin pulled a keychain-sized Command Block from his pocket, tossed it in his hand, and gently placed it on the gambling table.

Satoru naturally noticed that what Hakari Kinji held was a creation of his Cursed Technique, but he didn't say a word. After all, if Hakari Kinji's was, wasn't Shin's also one?

Although both men appeared motionless on the surface, they had actually already begun making subtle moves.

"Alright, let's begin."

Rattle... Rattle...

Hoshi Kirara shook the dice cup rhythmically, clearly allowing Hakari Kinji to discern the dice's value through his sense of hearing, while a novice like Shin naturally couldn't tell.

Thump!

The dice cup was placed steadily on the table, and both sides began to place their bets.

Hakari Kinji said to Shin, "You go first. After all, I am your senior."

Shin, unreserved, casually threw a chip onto "All-Same" (winning if all three dice are the same), and Hakari Kinji also placed a chip on the "All-Same" spot.

"Open... three ones..."

Hoshi Kirara and Hakari Kinji both narrowed their eyes. Clearly, the numbers in the cup should have been 2, 3, and 5. Fortunately, Hakari Kinji had placed his bet on the same spot as Shin to test his skill. Otherwise, he would have lost the first round.

Of course, there was no dealer in this game. Hoshi Kirara was just the one shaking the dice, so this round could only be ruled a draw.

Following this, for five consecutive rounds, Shin continued to bet on "All-Same." Likewise, Hakari Kinji placed his bets with him every time, but as the number of rounds increased, Hakari Kinji realized that Shin's abilities were extraordinary.

Because after six rounds of betting, the numbers in the cup had appeared in sequence from three ones up to three sixes. Anyone with common sense would know something was wrong.

'A Cursed Technique that can change the outcome of the dice? It's difficult to defeat.'
