Chapter 40 - Camera Obtained, Blacklisted Across Hong Kong

When Albert Yeung received the call, he was still lost in the haze of luxury, surrounded by wine, music, and beautiful women. A moment earlier, he had been enjoying himself without a care in the world, but the moment Luo Zheng's voice came through the line, the warmth in the room seemed to vanish.

"What? Little Brother Luo, rest assured—I will definitely give you a satisfactory explanation for this."

The amusement in his voice disappeared instantly.

After hanging up, a furious roar exploded through the lavish room, startling everyone present.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Luo Zheng ended the call and turned back toward the apartment. He gave Ah Sa a calm, reassuring look before slowly taking in the surroundings.

The place was stylishly furnished, modern yet personal.

This clearly wasn't Ah Jiao's residence.

His eyes narrowed.

Then this must be…

He turned sharply toward Ah Sa.

"Is this Edison Chen's apartment?"

Ah Sa hesitated for a moment before nodding.

"Yes. But he's usually busy with performances and filming, so he rarely comes back."

The moment she finished speaking, a sharp light flashed through Luo Zheng's eyes.

If this was Edison's place, then the things he had been looking for might still be here.

The camera.

The computer.

Without wasting another second, Luo Zheng stepped outside the room and quietly gave a few instructions to the bodyguards waiting nearby.

Moments later, several men entered and immediately began a careful search of the apartment.

Every drawer, cabinet, shelf, and corner was checked.

The entire place was searched methodically.

Ah Sa and Ah Jiao exchanged confused looks.

Neither of them understood what was happening.

Then Luo Zheng turned toward Ah Jiao, his expression serious.

"Xin Tong… when the two of you were together, did he record anything?"

The moment those words left his mouth, the room fell into complete silence.

Both women froze.

Ah Sa's eyes widened in disbelief as she turned to her friend.

Ah Jiao's face lost all color.

Her gaze locked onto Luo Zheng, filled with shock and confusion.

How did he know?

This was something she had never told anyone.

Not even Ah Sa.

Seeing the look on her face, Luo Zheng continued in a calm but firm voice.

"Since you've already decided to break up with him, you absolutely cannot leave anything in his hands that could be used against you later. If something like that gets exposed in the future, the consequences will be unimaginable."

His tone was serious enough that even Ah Sa felt a chill.

She immediately stepped closer to her friend.

"He's right, Xin Tong. This kind of thing could ruin everything."

Ah Jiao bit her lip, her face pale and embarrassed.

After a long pause, she finally spoke in a low voice.

"There's a safe under the bed in the bedroom. The things should be inside."

Almost as soon as she said it, a voice came from the bedroom.

"Boss, we found the safe."

Luo Zheng walked over immediately.

"Can you open it?"

One of the bodyguards nodded.

"No problem. It's just a combination lock."

Within minutes, the safe was forced open.

Inside, exactly as expected, were a camcorder and a laptop.

Luo Zheng took both items himself.

Under Ah Jiao's uneasy gaze and Ah Sa's anxious expression, he said calmly,

"I'll check them alone."

He used the excuse of protecting Ah Jiao's privacy, though in truth he wanted to confirm everything personally.

Half an hour later, Luo Zheng stepped out of the room.

His expression was colder than before.

Ah Sa hurriedly stood up.

"Well? Is there anything inside?"

Luo Zheng looked at Ah Jiao.

"Yes. And it's not just yours."

The words struck like thunder.

"What?"

Both women cried out at the same time.

Ah Jiao's face turned deathly pale.

Luo Zheng didn't say anything further.

This wasn't the time.

He still had another matter to settle.

"Leave everything to me. Ah Sa, take Ah Jiao back to the hotel first."

Ah Sa nodded silently.

She had countless questions, but she could tell now wasn't the moment to ask.

At Emperor Entertainment Tower, inside the chairman's office, the atmosphere was suffocating.

Albert Yeung sat across from Luo Zheng, his face grim.

"Little Brother Luo, Edison is still young. Young people make mistakes. But blacklisting him over this… isn't that a bit excessive?"

His voice carried obvious dissatisfaction.

On the television nearby, entertainment news was playing silently.

A breaking headline scrolled across the screen:

[Entertainment newcomer Edison Chen attacked by unknown assailants. Suffers fracture in right arm. Currently out of danger.]

Luo Zheng's face remained expressionless.

"Mr. Yeung, I am not asking for permission. I am merely informing you."

His tone was calm, but every word carried weight.

"I may not control Emperor's artists, but I absolutely control my own projects—and the projects of those who work with me."

The room fell silent.

Without giving Albert Yeung another chance to argue, Luo Zheng stood up.

Albert quickly rose and tried to stop him.

"Little Brother Luo, don't be rash. We can still discuss this."

Luo Zheng stopped at the doorway and looked back.

"Mr. Yeung, as a friend, let me offer you one piece of advice."

His gaze sharpened.

"Cut your losses while you still can."

Then he stepped into the elevator with his bodyguards.

Only after the doors closed did Albert Yeung slowly look down at the disc Luo Zheng had pressed into his hand during their handshake.

A bad feeling rose in his chest.

Later, when he finally watched the contents, his expression darkened completely.

The footage showed one of his own relatives—Vincy Yeung.

And the man in the recording was unmistakable.

At that moment, everything became clear.

The next day, Albert called Luo Zheng.

But instead of anger, his first question was cold and practical.

"How did you get this? Are there any backups?"

When Luo Zheng answered that there were no copies, Albert simply ended the call.

That calmness left even Luo Zheng momentarily surprised.

The Hong Kong entertainment circle truly was a deep and dangerous sea.

A week later, the matter had already begun affecting the industry.

Inside the Infernal Affairs production office, the directors were discussing casting.

"Replace him? Just because Edison is injured?" Andrew Lau frowned.

Mak Chiu-fai lowered his voice.

"Brother Lau, haven't you heard? He offended President Luo."

Andrew Lau's expression changed immediately.

"He did what?"

"He laid hands on one of President Luo's people."

The room went silent.

Then Andrew Lau made the decision instantly.

"Replace him."

After a short discussion, the replacement was finalized.

Nicholas Tse.

At the hospital, when Edison finally heard the news, he exploded.

"What? My role in Infernal Affairs is gone?"

His friend looked at him helplessly.

"You hit his woman and still expected to stay in a film he invested in?"

Edison sneered.

"So what? At worst I lose one movie."

His friend stared at him in disbelief.

"One movie?"

He threw a newspaper onto the bed.

"Take a look."

Edison picked it up casually.

But the moment his eyes landed on the headlines, his expression changed completely.

One statement after another.

Major studios.

Production companies.

Talent agencies.

Even Media Asia and China Star.

Every one of them had made the same announcement.

A complete industry blacklist.

No film roles.

No endorsements.

No collaborations.

Nothing.

For the first time, genuine panic appeared in his eyes.

He had thought Luo Zheng was just another wealthy investor.

He had never imagined that this single move would shut every door in Hong Kong's entertainment industry.

And now, the price of his actions had finally arrived.
