Cherreads

Chapter 131 - Battle of Gods

The earth – beautiful and fragile floated in the still emptiness of space. On the forbidden continent, animals roamed freely in the forest. The sheep chewed the grass, salivating with each bite. Deers sipped the water of the lake. Butterflies drifted like fragile silk against the horizon. But all that mesmerizing beauty would be ruined in mere moments. In the next microsecond, the horizon screamed. The trees bowed as if a God had passed through the forest. Sonic booms echoed throughout the animal kingdom, breaking all their ear drums.

The soil folded under the wind pressure. The animals, crushed to the ground screamed in panic. Two streaks of black and white streaked across the heavens at inconceivable speeds, splitting the clouds.

Flying across the earth were only two individuals – Dante and Judas. One moment, they were on Novopangea – the next, they were suddenly across the seas. Both felt a strange sensation like when Arthur had passed the Gatekeeper's Sea as if something had been stripped from them. Judas snapped his arm, shooting bloody knives. Dante countered, shattering the crimson blades with a flicker of lightning.

He lunged forward, grabbing Judas's leg. He hurled him forward, splitting the seas. Judas flipped over. They collided again. Dante tried to hook the enemy. Judas dodged and the blow skinned the soil. They passed Novopangea again. Dante sped across, running on water. Surging with lightning, he shot multiple bolts at Judas. Judas dodged but one bolt tore his leg off. But in the very next second, it regenerated. Judas slowed down, allowing Dante to near him.

He grabbed the supreme commander's wrists and leaned back. Pulling his legs back, he shot them forward. Dante gasped as he was sent flying. He passed the clouds and then the atmosphere. Finally, he crashed against the surface of the moon. He stood up, glancing around the cracked surface.

'Oh, Good. I didn't a base…' He heaved a sigh of relief.

He peered ahead and saw a blue orb floating in the darkness. He stared at it for a moment, letting the moment sink in. He crouched down and shot forward. The rocky surface shattered from the force, tearing the moon apart. The next second, Dante entered the atmosphere. Transforming into a spear of white light, he locked onto Judas. The Pope, walking on water wound back his fist and so did Dante. Both clashed and the shockwave tore through the ocean and split the clouds.

They delivered blows with their fist, reshaping the earth itself.

"You're really an Archon…" Dante muttered.

The duo traveled at the speed of light again. Forming several bright rings around the planet each second, it seemed like the earth was too small of a battlefield for these titans. They engaged once again, throwing combs like seasoned martial artists. Each strike created a sonic boom that broke the air.

'He's still not going all out…'

Judas noticed Dante held back against him. Both fighters stopped, stepping on the surface of the sea.

"You still hold back even though I'm an Archon…why?" Judas asked.

Dante laughed. "Don't you know how strong I am? If I don't hold back, I'll shatter this planet into atoms. So, don't expect my full power."

He locked eyes with Judas.

"On the contrary, it looks like you're not using the full extent of your power as well."

Judas chuckled, raising his arms.

"You got me."

Dante returned to a fighting stance.

"Are you sure you want to hold back against me?"

Judas also assumed a stance.

"I know I can't beat you. Besides, I don't want to destroy this world as well… but I can do something else…"

All of the sudden, multiple disfigured creatures appeared from before. Snakes wrapped around Judas's body. More creatures that held chainsaws, swords, and knives stepped out of his shadow. Even some humanoid figures entered the fray.

"Now, that's better." Dante rushed forward.

The monsters rushed at him as well. He snapped his fingers. The next second, lightning crackled, shattering the monsters. They faded into darkness as Judas appeared from behind. Dante blocked a strike. The fist landed on Judas chest, dark lighting surging from it. The latter flew back. Dante pressed his feet against the water and ran. Catching up to Judas again, he landed an Upper cut, dark lighting crackling from his fist.

He leapt up, trailing his adversary. Both rose to the edge of the atmosphere. Judas shook off his enemy's strike as they passed into space. They locked eyes, raising their fists. Both lunged forward, finally battling in a worthy ring.

Meanwhile…

Chris shot a star at the hat but Octavius erased it. Molten glass fell from the sky, charring the floor. Both fighters zoomed at supersonic speeds. They landed on a roof on the side of a room. Chris turned the corner, curling his hand into a fist. But Octavius met him with a kick. Chris's eyes widened as he barely dodged the strike. A piece of his coat that grazed the archbishop's foot was erased. Chris shot a star at Octavius. Octavius, caught off guard flew back as a supernova erupted.

"So, you're not invincible after all." Chris stated, looking down at him.

Octavius coughed as his brown hair was revealed. Yet, the stone mask remained on his face like a curse. The building began collapsing as Chris stepped off. He molded multiple spears from super-hot iron. He flicked his fingers and the weapons went flying. Octavius reached his hand, erasing the spears. After getting a closer look, Chris smirked.

"So…you're on the pillar of nothing?"

"Ding! Ding! Ding! Correct!" Octavius stood up.

The supreme commander didn't waste another word. His blow broke Mach 1. The archbishop's fist collied with his and the next second, they clashed in the air. As they circled the city, Chris, Octavius, Dante and Judas crossed paths. The Pope, covered in monsters had a stoic expression. Dante had a wicked smile across his face. But Chris and Octavius didn't notice them – they were too fast.

The two continued their bout, throwing supersonic punches at each other. They tore houses, smashing the infrastructure in pieces. Chris jabbed. Octavius tilted his head and the wall behind ripped into two. They leapt across the city, smashing windows. Multiple stars exploded into supernovas, spreading molten debris across the floor. The archbishop remained unaffected. They ran through buildings. Chris struck him but Octavius bent over, falling off the railing.

He landed and backed off. Chris landed in the same exact spot, shattering the floor. He furrowed his brows and continued to attack. They entered the kitchen. Octavius put up a cutting board. Chris chopped it in half. The archbishop stepped back and threw the refrigerator. Chris kicked it away. Using any utensil, he could, the archbishop distracted the supreme commander.

"Ugh! What is this idiocy?" Chris shouted in annoyance.

Octavius chuckled, unhinging the front door and throwing it at Chris. Chris melted the wood. He pointed his fingers and shot a beam. Octavius ducked the laser and ran away. Chris trailed him. He flew up, searching for his adversary. Out of the blue, Octavius covered Chris's eyes. His dwarf size allowed him to latch on like a leech.

Chris tried to shake him but the archbishop resisted. Eventually, Octavius let go. Chris snapped around and rushed forward. Suddenly, Chris's palm beamed with light. His enemy blinked – blinded. He stole that chance and his fist landed on Octavius's chest. The archbishop gasped. He flew through multiple buildings and slid against the floor. Finally, he stopped near a pillar that rose above the city. As Chris neared him, he laughed.

"Aren't you worried about your friends who are fighting Caesar?"

Chris shrugged.

"Not at all."

"Why? He's an Eminence." Octavius stood up.

"Because…" Chris stated. "My disciple with handle him."
