Chapter 112: Let's Give Myotismon a Big Makeover Together
"What... what in the world happened here?"
Mizuki's voice echoed off the cold, ancient stone walls of the pyramid. He blinked, his eyes scanning the completely deserted chamber. Beside him, Belle mirrored his absolute bewilderment, her brow furrowing as she surveyed the empty space.
The sprawling, chaotic army of Digimon—BlackAgumon, the mischievous BlackGatomon squad, and all the others—had vanished without a single trace.
Just as the two of them were scratching their heads, trying to process the sudden disappearance of their entire retinue, Venusmon stepped forward. Radiating a calm, divine light, she offered a soft, apologetic smile that instantly eased the tension in the room.
"Actually, it went a little something like this..."
A short time ago—
Just after Mizuki and Belle had ventured deeper into the pyramid's inner sanctum, Piximon had finally wrapped up her preliminary combat assessments of Mizuki's companions.
This grueling process was an absolute necessity. To design a proper, effective training regimen, she needed a raw, intuitive understanding of their actual combat fundamentals and skill ceilings.
However, as she hovered in the air, her tiny wings buzzing with a mixture of exhaustion and sheer disbelief, Piximon realized she was thoroughly dissatisfied with the results.
"This is absolutely outrageous, beep! You are all Digimon who have fought tooth and nail to survive in this brutal wasteland for so long, beep!"
Piximon gripped her Fairy Tale spear, shaking her round pink head as she looked down at the chaotic pile of groaning, panting monsters sprawled haphazardly across the dirt. "Why are your combat fundamentals so utterly tragic, beep? Were you planning to hide behind that human child's back for the rest of your lives, beep?"
She sighed, her frustration giving way to a weary resignation. To her expert eyes, this entire batch of monsters resembled toddlers who had miraculously acquired adult bodies. They possessed raw, untamed power, but absolutely zero tactical finesse or control. Out of the entire sprawling group, only a handful showed any real promise. BlackAgumon was the sole exception—the only one whose discipline and instincts actually met her strict standards.
The sheer thought of having to personally whip this massive, unruly mob into shape filled Piximon with an inexplicable, crushing sense of dread.
'Seriously, I only tagged along to observe the situation,'Piximon grumbled internally, her grip tightening on her spear.'How did I end up getting drafted as an unpaid drill instructor, beep? Sure, that boy helped me unlock my Mega digivolution, but I wasn't even that desperate to evolve in the first place, beep! Still... a debt is a debt, beep.'
She shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts and formulate a basic training schedule. But before she could even begin, a sudden shift in the wind caught her attention. Her peripheral vision locked onto a faint, dark speck descending from the distant sky.
"Huh? Is that—"
"You noticed it too, Teacher?"
It wasn't just Piximon. A few feet away, BlackAgumon's voice cut through the air, low and devoid of panic, but laced with cold readiness.
Piximon glanced down. The small, dark dinosaur stood perfectly still, his amber eyes locked onto the approaching anomaly. Despite being a mere Rookie, the sheer weight of his battle-hardened aura commanded respect. He possessed a maturity that was completely inconsistent with his youthful appearance, and a renewed look of approval flashed in Piximon's eyes.
Sensing her gaze, BlackAgumon glanced up and offered a subtle nod.
"...Before I had the honor of meeting Lord Mizuki, I was the sole protector of my village," BlackAgumon explained, his claws flexing slightly against the earth. "Living on the edge forces your senses to sharpen. You either notice the threat early, or your comrades die."
"A village? An Agumon?" Piximon paused, her eyes widening in sudden realization. "Wait a minute! Are you that legendary Agumon who single-handedly defended an entire settlement of Koromon against impossible odds, beep?"
"Legendary is a heavy word." BlackAgumon shifted uncomfortably, clearly unaccustomed to such blatant praise. He took a modest step back, breaking eye contact. "I am nowhere near as formidable as the rumors suggest. I still have an ocean of weaknesses to overcome."
As he spoke, a fierce, unyielding light ignited in his reptilian eyes.
'That is right. I still have so much to learn. I must push my limits. I have to become a blade sharp enough to serve Lord Mizuki... and a shield sturdy enough to protect the comrades standing beside me.'
Seeing the raw determination radiating from the small dinosaur, Piximon felt a surge of curiosity about what exactly had caused him to mutate from a standard Agumon into a BlackAgumon. But she ultimately swallowed the question. There were more pressing matters at hand.
The dark speck they had spotted earlier had finally arrived.
"Well, well. I certainly didn't expect a hidden oasis all the way out here. And look at all these strays! Are they leftovers from that buffoon Etemon's army?"
The intruder muttered to himself as he slowly fluttered down. It was a small, bat-like creature with a skull painted across its face.
Before Piximon could even raise her spear to interrogate the trespasser, a black blur shot up from the ground. The lead BlackGatomon—the one who had been playing dead just moments prior—executed a flawless, mid-air kip-up, landing squarely in the bat's path.
"You—Gatomon?! Wait, why is your fur coated in soot?"
"It is BlackGatomon, you blind rat. Who is this Gatomon you speak of? You clearly have me confused with some inferior copy." BlackGatomon crossed her arms, her blue eyes narrowing into dangerous slits as she sized up the little creature. "More, who are you, and why are you trespassing?"
"Me? I am DemiDevimon!"
Though initially startled by a face that so closely resembled his old rival, DemiDevimon quickly recovered his arrogant swagger once he realized he wasn't dealing with the actual Gatomon. He puffed out his chest, hovering just out of reach. "I am the most trusted subordinate of the great King Myotismon!"
Perhaps terrified of being underestimated by a mere Champion, DemiDevimon made absolutely sure to emphasize his affiliation, his voice dripping with smug superiority.
The temperature in the oasis seemed to plummet.
At the mention of the name "Myotismon," every single Digimon on the ground stiffened. Glances were exchanged. Claws quietly dug into the dirt. BlackGatomon's ears twitched, a chilling, entirely unreadable smile curving onto her lips.
"Myotismon, you say... How fascinating." She murmured the words softly, almost to herself, before tilting her head at the bat. "So, emissary of Myotismon. What exactly brings you to our doorstep?"
"Not Myotismon! It is King Myotismon!"
Clearly offended by her lack of reverence, DemiDevimon screeched his correction before continuing his pitch. "I am here, of course, to offer you pathetic weaklings a golden ticket! As Digimon, you all know how brutal this wasteland is. Survival is a luxury for strays like you. But today is your lucky day!"
He began to circle above them, completely oblivious to the murderous intent pooling beneath him. "Swear loyalty to the great King Myotismon, and you shall bask in his eternal protection! He is currently orchestrating a grand master plan. Serve him well, and you might even earn the data required for digivolution! Well? Fall to your knees and accept!"
DemiDevimon cackled, looking incredibly pleased with himself. He completely failed to notice the increasingly dangerous, bloodthirsty glares radiating from the horde below.
Monochromon's horn was already sparking with suppressed energy. Just as the massive beast was about to erupt and crush the bat, BlackGatomon raised a single, silencing paw.
"Myotismon's army... A tempting offer indeed. I am willing to consider it."
"Excellent choice!"
"However, a decision of this magnitude requires consensus. Give me a moment to confer with my associates." She gestured lazily toward the massive, glaring horde behind her.
DemiDevimon scoffed, checking his claws as if he had a pressing schedule. "Fine, fine! But make it quick! Important emissaries like myself operate on a very tight schedule!"
"Take all the time you need," BlackGatomon purred, turning her back on him.
As she walked back toward her companions, she shot a highly deliberate, loaded glance toward Piximon. Catching the silent cue, Piximon subtly twirled her fingers. A translucent, shimmering energy field instantly snapped into existence, perfectly encapsulating DemiDevimon in an isolated pocket of altered reality.
"Alright, beep. I have trapped that flying rat in a localized sensory illusion. He thinks you are all still debating, beep. We are completely soundproofed."
Piximon floated down, her expression turning dead serious. Looking at the cold, calculating aura radiating from the feline, Piximon realized her previous assessment of BlackGatomon being a complete idiot might need a severe revision. "Now, drop the act. What exactly are you plotting, beep?"
Under the heavy, expectant gaze of Piximon and her comrades, BlackGatomon took a slow, measured breath. Her playful demeanor vanished entirely.
"I am going to accept his offer. I am joining Myotismon's ranks."
"WHAT?!"
The collective roar of dozens of Digimon shook the very air.
Monochromon, his armored hide rumbling with fury, stomped forward, the ground cracking beneath his immense weight. He raised a massive, clawed fist toward her. "You treacherous, backstabbing feline! Are you actually planning to betray Lord Mizuki?!" he bellowed, his voice thick with disgust. "I knew a naturally evil Dark-type like you couldn't be trusted! I will crush you myself—!"
Before the enraged beast could bring down his fist of judgment, two blurs intercepted him. The fiercely loyal BlackAgumon and the surprisingly earnest, standard Agumon slammed their shoulders against Monochromon's legs from the left and right, anchoring him in place.
"Let go of me, you two! Why are you defending this traitor?!" Monochromon roared, thrashing against their grip.
"Control your temper, Monochromon," BlackAgumon ordered, his voice an icy splash of reason. "Let her finish speaking before you pass judgment."
Beside him, the honest Agumon nodded vigorously, his claws digging into the dirt for use. "Yeah, big guy! Listen to her! Sure, she acts like a total idiot most of the time, but she doesn't have a rotten core!"
BlackGatomon's cool, calculating aura instantly shattered.
"Who are you calling a total idiot, you orange overgrown lizard?!" she shrieked, her fur bristling in absolute indignation. 'I refuse to be insulted by a creature who eats dirt for fun!'
Ignoring the screeching cat, Monochromon took a deep, shuddering breath, the fiery glow fading from his horn as the two Agumons slowly released him. "Fine. I let my temper get the better of me. But you had better give me a flawless explanation for this madness!"
"You don't need to demand it. I was going to tell you anyway."
BlackGatomon smoothed down her fur, clearing her throat to regain her lost dignity. She shot a withering glare at the honest Agumon before turning back to the group.
"You all heard Teacher Piximon's report earlier. That aristocratic parasite, Myotismon, dared to launch a sneak attack on Lord Mizuki." Her eyes darkened, a lethal edge creeping into her tone. "Yes, Lord Mizuki and Big Sister Belle humiliated him. Yes, they crushed his pride. But the fact remains—he survived."
She paced back and forth, her tail flicking sharply. "Do not misunderstand me. Lord Mizuki is a god among mortals. To a being as magnificent and benevolent as him, Myotismon is nothing but a pathetic, buzzing insect! But there is an old human proverb: 'It is easy to dodge a spear in the daylight, but impossible to guard against an arrow in the dark.' Even if the possibility is microscopic, I refuse to allow that filthy worm the chance to scheme against Lord Mizuki again."
BlackAgumon's eyes widened slightly as the pieces clicked together. "I see. You aren't joining his forces to serve him. You are infiltrating his inner circle to assassinate him."
"Exactly." BlackGatomon flashed a sharp, predatory grin.
But the smile quickly faded, replaced by a bitter, self-deprecating grimace. She looked down at her small, black paws. "I hate admitting this... but right now, I am pathetically weak. Lord Mizuki has never demanded anything of us. He treats us with nothing but kindness. But I know the truth. In my current state, I am nothing but dead weight to him."
She clenched her paws into tight fists. "I need to evolve. I need to become a weapon worthy of his hands. And what better way to force an digivolution than throwing myself into a life-or-death crucible? Actual, blood-soaked combat is the fastest way to rewrite our data." She tilted her head, locking eyes with the hovering fairy. "Isn't that right, Teacher Piximon?"
Piximon sighed, crossing her arms. "I haven't actually taught you a single lesson yet, so drop the 'Teacher' title, beep. But... your logic is sound. Infiltrating Myotismon's territory and actively sabotaging a threat of his caliber will certainly push your data to the absolute limit, beep. However, the mortality rate of this little stunt is astronomically high. One slip-up, and your core will be deleted. Are you truly prepared to die, beep?"
"Prepared to die?" BlackGatomon whispered, the words rolling off her tongue like a prayer. A fanatical, almost terrifying devotion ignited in her eyes. "My life belonged to Lord Mizuki the second he pulled me from the abyss. I have been ready."
"Oh, how wonderfully dramatic. Count me in, too."
Another BlackGatomon sauntered forward, her tail swaying lazily.
"And me."
"And me."
The lead BlackGatomon blinked, genuinely startled as her identical sisters formed a tight circle around her. "You idiots... why are you volunteering for a suicide mission?"
The other cats exchanged amused glances before laughing in a synchronized, eerie harmony.
"Don't flatter yourself, sister. We aren't doing this for you," one purred. "We just happen to agree with your assessment. We are all burdens. We are dark-born, inherently evil creatures by nature... but even monsters like us understand the concept of absolute loyalty."
"If the path forward requires wading through a hellscape of blood and deleted data, then so be it," another whispered, her claws extending with a metallic snikt. "As long as we emerge strong enough to stand by Lord Mizuki's side, we will gladly tear our way through the underworld."
"Besides..." A third cat licked her lips. "The thought of slowly dismantling the fool who dared to raise a hand against our Lord? It sounds like a delightful game."
A collective, bloodthirsty glint flared in the eyes of the feline squad. The sheer, suffocating weight of their synchronized killing intent made the surrounding air feel incredibly heavy. It was a terrifying display of pure, unadulterated yandere devotion.
The lead BlackGatomon bit her lower lip, fighting back a wave of unexpected emotion. She let out a soft huff, a wicked, razor-sharp smile stretching across her face. "Fine. Let's go deliver Myotismon a catastrophic surprise."
"Count us in, too."
BlackAgumon stepped forward, his tone leaving absolutely no room for argument. He gestured to the massive crowd of Digimon standing firmly behind him. "You felines are far too reckless. Leaving you to your own devices is a tactical disaster waiting to happen. With us watching your backs, the mortality rate will drop significantly."
"He speaks the truth," Monochromon grunted, his heavy tail thumping against the earth.
"Yeah! Because BlackGatomon is a total idiot who rushes into traps!" the honest Agumon chimed in cheerfully.
"I will peel your orange scales off and wear them as a scarf, you motherf—!" BlackGatomon snarled, lunging forward.
Before the furious cat could draw blood, two sleek, menacing Dobermon smoothly stepped between them. "Hold on, Big Sister BlackGatomon," one of the hounds rumbled, his voice deep and raspy. "The lizard lacks tact, but he is not wrong. Need I remind you of our last skirmish? You thought you had the high ground, got cocky, started monologuing, and nearly let BlackAgumon completely turn the tide and slaughter us."
BlackGatomon froze, her furious momentum instantly evaporating. A deep flush of embarrassment burned beneath her dark fur. "That... that wasn't carelessness! That was just BlackAgumon being an underhanded, despicable cheat!"
BlackAgumon clicked his tongue, his amber eyes narrowing into a dry, unamused glare. "I really do not want to hear the word 'despicable'coming from the mouth of a cat who rigged an entire forest with explosive traps and brought a massive ambush squad to hunt me down." He crossed his arms, muttering under his breath,'Right. I almost forgot about that little incident. I still need to find a way to pay her back for that.'
As the chaotic banter settled into a unified, ironclad resolve, Piximon floated down into the center of the group.
"So, let me get this straight. You are all going to willingly march into Myotismon's stronghold and act as a Trojan Horse, beep? Should I at least go inform the boy before you march off to your potential doom, beep?"
"Absolutely not." BlackGatomon stepped forward, her expression entirely serious. "If you tell Lord Mizuki now, he will never allow it. His heart is too gentle. He would rather carry our dead weight forever than let us risk our lives. Please... tell him only after we are gone."
She looked up at the tiny fairy, her blue eyes pleading but resolute. "You said it yourself, Teacher Piximon. We cannot cower behind his shadow forever. But since you no longer have to waste your time training us... I beg you. Take our place. Protect Lord Mizuki while we are gone. You have absorbed his power. You have achieved the Mega level. You are strong enough to keep him safe."
Piximon stared at the fiercely loyal cat, a reluctant, fond smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "You cunning little manipulator... So that was your endgame all along, beep." She sighed, shaking her head in defeat. "This is exactly why I hate owing favors, beep."
If there was one silver lining to this entire absurd situation, it was that the human boy was genuinely a joy to be around. Just recalling Mizuki's warm, comforting aura—an energy that made every Digimon in his vicinity feel an innate sense of peace—brought a nostalgic softness to Piximon's eyes.
But she quickly slapped her own cheeks, shaking the sentimental thoughts away. 'Pull yourself together! You are not some clingy Rookie! You are a mature, reliable, Mega-level adult, beep!'
Clearing her throat, Piximon leveled her spear and met the gaze of every single Digimon present. "Alright. You have a deal, beep. I will watch over the boy. I will ensure no harm comes to him, beep."
Her voice dropped, taking on the heavy, commanding tone of a true battlefield veteran. "But in exchange, you listen to me very carefully. You watch each other's backs. You survive. And you come back to him without a single casualty, beep. Do you understand me, beep?"
Despite her tiny, spherical body, the sheer weight of her presence in that moment was absolute. She truly felt like a commanding officer—a glimpse of the divine Venusmon hiding beneath her fairy exterior.
The massive army of Digimon stood at absolute attention. They looked at one another, their resolve hardening into unbreakable steel, and shouted in perfect, booming unison:
"We understand, beep!"
Piximon froze, her emotional momentum crashing into a brick wall. Her face flushed bright red as she hoisted her Fairy Tale spear high into the air, screaming in absolute, unfiltered outrage.
"I TOLD YOU IDIOTS TO STOP MOCKING MY VERBAL TIC, BEEP!!!"
