Chapter 73 - Chapter

Even Red Hair frowned.

They lived in Zone C, and because they were thugs, anyone assigned to their tent was driven out, so there were only four people in their tent, making it quite spacious.

Red Hair was afraid of upsetting Chen Wan, so he cautiously watched her expression.

Chen Wan's brows were slightly furrowed.

Living in such an environment, she was worried Yang Yang might get sick.

But wandering around aimlessly wasn't a solution either.

Their purpose for coming here was to find someone, and once they found them, they could leave the base as soon as possible.

"Red Hair, where do you and your friends live?" Chen Wan glanced at him.

Red Hair's legs trembled in fear, almost causing him to sit on the ground.

Hearing Chen Wan ask where they lived, he thought she wanted to take over their tent.

But he still obediently replied, "Sis, we live in Tent 874 in Zone C. The environment here isn't good. Why don't you and your friends come stay with us?" Red Hair said this through gritted teeth.

They were used to living there and didn't really want to give it up, but they were more afraid of losing their lives.

"No need for that. I need you and your friends to help me with something." Chen Wan glanced at him and spoke.

"Sis, just say the word. As long as it's something we can do, we'll help you unconditionally." Red Hair smiled ingratiatingly at Chen Wan.

"I need you to find out about a few people for me, quietly. If you find anything, come tell me immediately. I'll wait for you until six this evening. If you haven't found anything by then, I'll have to come and have a chat with you and your friends." Chen Wan spoke in a relaxed tone, her gaze lightly resting on Red Hair.

Red Hair swallowed nervously and bent over respectfully, "Don't worry, sis. We'll definitely do our best to find them and come tell you right away. We won't dare to play any tricks. Just give us your orders."

Chen Wan walked to the side of the tent, gestured for Red Hair to come over, and lowered her voice, "These three people are Jiang Zhaoyuan, Ye Lan, and Jiang Wan Ning. If you hear anything about any of them, come tell me immediately, understand?"

"Understood, sis. I'll get on it right away." Red Hair responded respectfully.

"Alright, go ahead, and remember to be quick." Chen Wan reminded him again, and only then did Red Hair leave.

Chen Wan knew Red Hair and his friends weren't good people, but there was no choice.

Given the chaos in Zones C and D, finding someone was really difficult.

It was better to let the thugs who roamed here help out; maybe it would be faster.

Chen Wan returned to Jiang Yanxin and the others.

Jiang Yanxin and Qin Ke had already cleared a space at the entrance for everyone to rest, while Yi Yi held the little one.

The little one had lost its usual energy.

Even in Yi Yi's arms, she kept her head down, silent.

The ground wasn't clean, so Jiang Yanxin took out clothes from the men's backpacks to lay on the ground, providing a place for everyone to sit.

The group sat down to rest, but the atmosphere in the tent was somewhat heavy.

Many people were subtly observing Chen Wan and her group, whispering about something.

However, Chen Wan didn't pay attention.

Their purpose for coming to the base was to find someone, and they had no intention of staying.

Not to mention, with the living conditions of 30 people in one tent, Chen Wan was worried about catching a disease if they stayed.

Chen Wan noticed Jiang Yanxin's worried expression and reassured her, "Don't worry, I've already sent someone to look. We should have news soon."

Jiang Yanxin nodded, but the worry on her face didn't fade.

It wasn't surprising she was anxious.

They had encountered several troubles just upon arriving at the base, and that was with Chen Wan and the others being quite skilled, allowing them to enter smoothly.

But her parents and sister were just ordinary people.

Facing such a chaotic environment, Jiang Yanxin even felt a bit scared now.

Inside the tent, people noticed Chen Wan and her group just sitting at the entrance to rest, and gradually, the chatter inside grew louder.

"Hey, do those women know Red Hair? " Tsk, Red Hair and his gang aren't good people," a tall, thin man said to his companions.

"Keep your voice down. Don't let them hear you. Let's not get involved in their business. As long as we don't cross paths, we should be fine. We don't want Red Hair's revenge; those people are trouble," a buzz-cut man quietly reminded.

"You say those women, two of them are Alphas, and they just got here and are already mixed up with Red Hair's gang. What a waste," a black-faced fat man said with a regretful expression, occasionally sneaking glances at Chen Wan and her group.

"Come on, just keep dreaming. Beautiful women wouldn't look at you. You wouldn't even get a chance."

"Put away those thoughts, or you won't even know how you died," the buzz-cut man warned with a hint of mockery, though he himself frequently glanced at Chen Wan and her group.

On the right side of the tent lived a large family, with seven or eight people, including a seven or eight-year-old boy.

The boy became interested when he saw Yang Yang in Yi Yi's arms, and seeing that Chen Wan and her group were all women, he gradually grew bolder.

The boy struggled in his grandmother's arms, wanting to get down, "Grandma, I want to go play with that kid. Let me go, I want to go."

"Don't go, be good. Those women aren't good people, and that child isn't clean. Be a good grandson and stay here. We have so many people to keep you company. What's so good about them?" a woman in her sixties coaxed the boy.

The boy seemed spoiled, not knowing how to behave even in the apocalypse, or perhaps he had already learned which groups were easy to bully.

If you asked him to play with a team full of male alphas in the tent, he wouldn't dare.

"But I want to, I want to play with her. I don't care," the boy's voice grew sharper.

At this point, the boy's father spoke up, "Mom, let it be. If Cheng Cheng wants to play, let him play for a while. I'll take him over."

The boy's mother glared at her husband and said irritably, "I think you just want to talk to her because she's pretty, right?"

The man glared back at her, "What are you talking about? Everything you eat and drink is earned by me working hard at the base. If you don't want to starve, then shut up."

The woman's face gradually turned sour.

As an Omega, she really didn't have many ways to earn points.

Sometimes, she could only earn some points by washing dirty clothes for people who didn't want to do it themselves.

Her husband, on the other hand, could occasionally earn some points by transporting military supplies.

The main source of income for their large family was her husband and his brother going out to transport supplies to earn some points.

Thinking of this, the woman could only remain silent.

Cheng Cheng's grandmother spoke up again, trying to persuade, "Those women are involved with that redhead; they're not good people. We'd better not cause trouble, Jia Xuan. The base is so chaotic, we can't afford to offend those hooligans."

The boy's father, the man named Jia Xuan, didn't seem to care, "Mom, those people with the redhead have new women every day, they won't care about them. I think they're just playing around and will toss them aside. Besides, I didn't plan to do anything. I'm an alpha; I have no interest in other alphas. I just want Cheng Cheng to play with that kid for a while."

"Jia Xuan, just don't cause trouble. Let Cheng Cheng play with that kid for a while, but don't cause any trouble," Cheng Cheng's grandmother reminded him again.

The boy in her arms was gradually becoming impatient, "Oh, Grandma, I want to play, I want her to play with me!"

"Alright, alright, let your dad take you," the old woman said, putting her grandson on the ground.

The boy named Cheng Cheng quickly ran over to Chen Wan and the others.

"Cheng Cheng, wait for your dad," Jia Xuan called out from behind, but he didn't really intend to stop his son.

"Who are you? I want to play with the kid in your arms, or you can play with me," Cheng Cheng said loudly, scanning Chen Wan and the others.

He was tired of playing with his grandma and mom, and they weren't as pretty as these people.

He wanted these pretty sisters to entertain him.

Yi Yi looked at the boy with a half-smile, marveling at how human males could be so confident from such a young age.

Jia Xuan was momentarily stunned by Yi Yi's smile.

When he came back to his senses, Yi Yi was looking at him nonchalantly.

Jia Xuan smiled, slicking back his greasy hair that hadn't been washed in over a week before speaking, "Ladies, this is my son Cheng Cheng. He said he wanted to come over and play with this little friend, so I brought him over. There aren't many kids in the base."

"Why not let them play together for a while? This is a little girl, right? My son can protect his sister in the future, right, Cheng Cheng?"

"Hurry up and put her down to play with me, or you guys play with me. Hurry up, hurry up, why aren't you talking? Are you mute?" Cheng Cheng got anxious when the pretty sisters ignored him and tried to pounce into Chen Wan's arms, wanting her to hold him like Yi Yi was holding Yang Yang.

"This kid is just playful, but he's very cute. He's liked pretty sisters since he was little…" The man continued to chatter to Yi Yi.

Among these women, he had the best impression of Yi Yi.

The reason was simple: Chen Wan and Qin Ke were alphas, which didn't interest him, and Jiang Yanxin had a cold face the whole time.

Only Yi Yi had a smiling expression, so Jia Xuan assumed Yi Yi was interested in him.

Chen Wan had already stood up and dodged, causing the boy to fall to the ground and start crying, "You hurt me, boohoo, dad, grandma, she didn't hold me and made me fall."

Chen Wan had been in a bad mood since arriving at the base.

After dealing with two groups of people, she didn't want to make a move again and just wanted to wait quietly for news from the redhead.

But all sorts of annoying people kept coming over.

Chen Wan wasn't the type to take things lying down.

A kid like this, who doesn't ask for permission before trying to hug someone, either has a screw loose, is inherently a bit sleazy, or is just spoiled by his family.

But none of this had anything to do with Chen Wan; her patience had long been exhausted.
