"Whoevert e you are, your survival depends on the urgency of the news you thought couldn't wait until morning," Sterling seethed as he threw open the doors to his room, glaring at the intruder who had just woken him up from the little sleep he had managed to catch. "Now speak."
Ledger's eyes moved to the gun Sterling pushed into his middle, and then back to Sterling's face. He swallowed.
"It's Captain Shadow," Ledger announced, his face grave. "We found him, his face— that bastard Raphael,—"
Sterling dropped the gun instantly. "Where is he?"
Minutes later, he was standing by the bed in the room on the lowest level of the house that they used as an infirmary. His face maintained a blank expression as he regarded the man on the bed before him, with his entire face wrapped in bandages. He was unconscious, something Sterling was grateful for.
Waking up to this new reality was something that anyone would prefer to postpone as much as possible.
