Chapter 44 - Preparations for Solving the Case

"No! That's not it!"

Ran heard what the Female student in front of her said, and probably understood that her actions had caused a misunderstanding, so she quickly explained.

"Then what is it?"

Kazuha saw the beautiful Female student say this, and for a moment also became confused.

"It's just that he's very similar to someone I care about."

Ran said, a little embarrassed.

"What? You mean Heiji is very similar to the person you like?"

Kazuha pressed.

"It's not about liking!"

RanRan to the side and said shyly, "It's more about the similar characteristics of a deduction maniac."

As she spoke, she suddenly thought of a more accurate description, and turned to Kazuha, saying seriously, "Like that big idiot deduction maniac!"

"Ah? Big idiot deduction maniac?"

For this description, Kazuha thought of Hattori, and it was indeed a very fitting description. It was because of this that she understood Ran's meaning, and she felt very regretful and embarrassed about what she had just blurted out to Ran.

Meanwhile, inside the house, when Kudo was chatting with Fujimaru Yoshino, he discovered that she also understood composition, and it was because she used to be Fujimaru Kazuo's assistant before they got married.

Knowing this, Kudo seemed to have thought of something, and then dialed a phone number.

"Wait! I wasn't threatened by Hidaka! It's all my wife's misunderstanding! In short, I didn't kill anyone!"

Facing the questions from the Police Officer and Hattori, Fujimaru Kazuo emphasized that he did not kill anyone, and repeatedly stated that he couldn't remember why he didn't open the door in time.

Looking at Fujimaru Kazuo's uncooperative attitude, Hattori couldn't think of a good solution for a moment. Recalling the state of the deceased when he first entered the house, he suddenly thought of something and said to Officer Moriaya.

"Detective, there's something I'd like to confirm with the forensic personnel!"

"Okay!"

Officer Moriaya agreed.

"Sure enough! Okay, excuse me."

On the other side, Kudo finished his call and said to the person on the other end of the phone, "Please, goodbye!"

Outside the house, Kazuha and Ran had cleared up their misunderstanding due to their previous conversation, and because of topics between Female students, they started chatting openly.

"Huh? 'Chains' mean handcuffs?"

Looking at the amulet Kazuha took out, Ran said with some envy.

"Yes, this is a pair of amulets containing that fragment."

"Then, are you two dating?"

"No, no!"

Seeing Kazuha happily holding the amulet, Ran asked curiously, but Kazuha strongly denied it.

"I'm like Heiji's older sister. What about you, Ran? Are you dating that big idiot deduction maniac?"

"No, our relationship hasn't reached that point. Nor do we have a bond as strong as yours."

Just as they were speaking, Shinichi Kudo, who had just come out to call them back inside, walked over.

"Hey, what are you doing! Who's the big idiot deduction maniac?"

Kudo, who happened to overhear some of the conversation, walked up to Ran and asked, while Kazuha immediately Ran away discreetly.

"I don't know!"

Ran retorted loudly, "More importantly, have you figured anything out? Hattori might solve this case first."

"It doesn't matter, no matter how many Detectives there are, the truth is always only one."

Saying that, he walked back inside. Looking at Kudo's back, Ran muttered to herself, grumbling, "Honestly! This big idiot deduction maniac!"

Back inside, Officer Moriaya happened to receive a positive reply from the forensic personnel, and told Hattori, "Just as you said, Hattori. The forensic personnel said that the deceased's upper body had many tiny glass scratches, but her clothes were not damaged."

Hearing this result, Hattori smiled and looked at Fujimaru Kazuo, who was sitting blankly to the side.

"Indeed, you were the one who put clothes on Ms. Hidaka's body, weren't you! To conceal your relationship with Ms. Hidaka, you first thought of protecting yourself!"

"If this gets out, it'll be troublesome! But please believe me, I really didn't kill anyone!"

Seeing that he couldn't hide it, Fujimaru Kazuo had no choice but to admit it.

"Then how did the glass break?"

Officer Moriaya countered.

"I don't know!"

To this question, Fujimaru Kazuo still loudly retorted, "I locked the door and played music as usual, then a soccer ball came in, I got up to look, and then I heard something vibrating, and the glass broke!"

"Sure enough!"

Hearing such an answer, Hattori and Kudo simultaneously understood the solution!

"Hey, hey, hey! Who allowed you to come in!"

At this moment, a tall, elegant lady in a professional uniform walked in, and was questioned by Officer Moriaya.

"I am Officer Miwako Sato of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department Investigation Division One."

"Excuse me! Please proceed!"

Ms. Miwako Sato took out her identification to explain her identity, leaving Officer Moriaya speechless. Along with her, two Police Officers who came with Miwako Sato were carrying a photo frame, which perfectly matched the broken photo frame at the scene—it was the art photo frame of the hostess, Fujimaru Yoshino.

"I found it strange after seeing the photo frame at the scene."

Kudo stepped forward and explained, "The content of the photo in this photo frame at the scene is clearly a set, and in another living room, I found a blank wall that originally seemed to hold a set of photo frames, as well as the receipt for the photo frame. So I called a Detective I know."

"Ku... Toiru! After Toiru described it, I confirmed it with the store, and then I found this photo frame, which was taken for repair because the glass was broken!"

Miwako Sato finished explaining, then whispered in Kudo's ear, "Inspector Megure was called away for something just now, so only I came."

"Thank you, you've already helped a lot."

Kudo also responded in a low voice.

"Amazing, Toiru!"

Seeing Kudo ask the Police Officer to bring the other photo frame, Hattori understood what he wanted to do, and couldn't help but praise him.

"With this, the mystery of the case is solved!"

Meanwhile, at Teitan High School, Takato, on his own, had already circled the old school building several times, while two Female students followed him somewhat bewildered.

Because it was the weekend, the only club with people in the old school building today was the art club. After several rounds, Takato also confirmed that there were only two entrances and exits to this old school building: a back door locked with an old, rusty lock, and a normally open front door.

The back door couldn't have been opened, so they could only use the front door. But going out the front door led to the outdoor playground where people were active. Was it possible to take someone out through the front door?

Looking at the gymnasium where a kendo competition was being held not far away, Takato pondered. At this moment, he received a text message on his phone, and the sender displayed was Inspector Megure, and the content of the text message was just a few short words: Ready.

Seeing the content of the text message, Takato finally breathed a sigh of relief.
