Chapter 37 - Chapter 37:

Zoro nodded, doing the same as the orange-haired girl, "Yeah, it's not really that surprising, that fight was definitely something."

Luffy smiled as he ate bites, his hand reaching for Nami's plate to take a piece of bacon.

"Hey! It's mine!" Nami shouted angrily, swatting away Luffy's wandering hand and giving him a death glare.

The boy just laughed and went back to eating. He was glad Zoro saw how strong he'd become while still being able to use Armament Haki. If only he'd slept for a week... Luffy sighed, swallowing another big mouthful of meat. Yeah, he definitely wouldn't be using it for a while.

Nami glanced up at Luffy from her plate. She was still angry with him and thought it was silly that he wanted to be a pirate... but Zoro wasn't wrong. What she'd seen during the battle had affected her too. Maybe... "Hey, pervert," she said, still protecting her plate from Luffy's hands. "Even if you're going to be a pirate," her face soured as she said the word, "I still think we should team up."

Zoro just sighed and continued eating. He knew where this was going. It seemed they would be leaving the island sooner than planned. "I guess he's not so worried about Levi anymore ," he thought, a bead of sweat forming on his brow.

The food that wasn't on Zoro's or Nami's plates had vanished, and Luffy lay back to digest his meal, doing the same with the redhead's words. Now that the adventure the old man had sent him on was over, he was free to start another! The black-haired boy smiled to himself. He knew she would be there to convince her to become a pirate. "What do we do?" Luffy asked, turning to Nami.

Zoro groaned, and Nami glared at him. Turning to Luffy, she replied, "I have something I'd like your help with. I could probably do it myself, but it would be nice to have strong guys like you around to make things easier."

"Sounds fun! Where are we going?" Luffy asked. He hoped she had a boat, because he didn't think Levi had returned yet, and anyway, he wasn't sure if Nami would like the idea of being dragged around by a sea monster. Even if she was friends with Luffy.

"Have either of you heard of a pirate named Mad Treasure?" Nami asked the two boys at the table.

"The name sounds familiar. He probably had a wanted poster, but everyone got wet when we swam here," Zoro replied.

"Did you swim all the way here?" the girl asked curiously.

"The ship sank before we even reached the island," the swordsman said, frowning. He was still a little angry about it. That ship had lasted him years!

"They're idiots," Nami said. She thought it was lucky they were both so strong; otherwise, their stupidity would have killed them already! "Well, he's a pirate who loves treasure... obviously. The thing is, I've found where he keeps it all, and I want to steal it. It's right here in the East Blue." Nami looked at the two boys, observing their reactions. Luffy seemed excited, and Zoro... less so.

"Great! Now I'm really excited!" the dark-haired man shouted, jumping to his feet. He groaned in pain. Perhaps he'd been a little hasty. He was certainly still badly hurt. "Let's go steal some treasure!" he whispered with a pained smile.

"Relax, pervert," Nami told Luffy. It had been too easy. She looked at the other diner. "And you?" the girl asked.

Zoro sighed. He'd been doing it a lot lately. He guessed that was just how his life was. Zoro hoped Crazy Treasure would be strong. He really wanted to show Luffy what he'd learned. "Yes. You can count on me."

She wasn't thrilled about sailing with two boys she barely knew. One of them was a pervert... She definitely wasn't spying! But she had to. It was for Cocoyashi. Those two practically guaranteed her the treasure. "Well, it'll take us about two months to reach the island."

Luffy groaned, interrupting the girl: "Two months?!"

"But there are plenty of places to stop along the way to resupply, so we won't have to worry too much about supplies," Nami said, ignoring the boy's interruption.

He perked up immediately upon hearing they were stopping along the way. Maybe they'd see some cool things while they were there, and maybe he'd meet even more cool people! Then, an important fact occurred to the teenager. Neither he nor Zoro were very good at sailing. "You won't be a navigator, will you, Nami?" Luffy asked, crossing his fingers. It was worth a try, right?

A look of pride crossed Nami's face. "You just happen to be looking at the best navigator in the East Blue. Maybe even the world." She was proud of her navigational skills. She wanted to be proud of her charts too, but... She shook her head. Thinking about him now would only bother her, and she didn't need a repeat of what happened earlier.

"NOW YOU HAVE TO JOIN MY CREW!" Luffy shouted excitedly. He had to have the best navigator in the world on his crew! And here she was, right in front of him!

"NO!" shouted Nami with shark teeth, "I already told you! I will never be a pirate!"

Luffy pouted, but calmed down. "I refuse," he whispered, sitting back down and crossing his arms.

"What was that?" Nami asked in a cloying voice.

Luffy swallowed and looked down at his lap. "Nothing!"

Zoro couldn't help but chuckle to himself. His future captain could take down wolves the size of small mountains, but a teenage girl intimidated him.

"And what the hell do you think you're laughing at?!" Nami shouted and turned her head towards Zoro, hearing the laughter he had tried to hide.

Zoro paled as he stared at the girl, his eyes practically ablaze. 'Terrifying.'

Nami snorted and returned to the subject. "I think we should leave tomorrow. The sooner we leave, the faster we'll get the treasure, and the sooner I can get rid of those two."

"Saul isn't going to like that," Zoro said. Who else was going to do all the manual labor?

"Well, you'll have to deal with it," Nami replied. "I'm not going to wait." She wasn't going to let her people suffer any more than necessary.

Zoro sighed once more, this time with resignation.

"Alright!" exclaimed Luffy, getting up from the table once again, more slowly this time. "I'm going to sleep! All that food was delicious, and I want it to be tomorrow already!"

The boy walked around the table to the door, and the other occupants did the same, as they too had decided to sleep. "Good night, guys! Zoro, I hope you have sweet dreams about swords and Nami..." Luffy didn't finish the sentence, but the implication was there.

"I DON'T DREAM OF WATCHING!" Nami shouted at the boy in the straw hat.

Luffy just laughed as he ran away from the angry girl as fast as his injured body would allow.
