Renee Kane woke up at one o'clock the next afternoon.
She rubbed her head, feeling as though she'd dreamed of something momentous the night before. But when she tried to recall the details, she came up empty.
Downstairs, Magic and Snowball were staring at each other in the living room.
She was a little baffled. "Are you two playing statues?"
The moment he saw Renee Kane was awake, the tension in Snowball's face melted away. "Master, you're up. Are you hungry? I've made some food for you."
Renee Kane nodded absentmindedly. Now that he mentioned it, she was feeling rather hungry.
Magic simply watched her eat in silence.
Renee Kane was puzzled. "What's with the long face? Did something upset you?"
Magic shook his head. "There seem to be new developments outside. You should check the world chat."
At his words, Renee Kane opened the chat interface.
