Having pieced it all together, Renee Kane looked at Mia with a strange expression. "How did you break free from Big Eyes's control?"
Mia gazed gently into the distance and said in a low voice, "You should be able to guess."
Renee Kane paused.
But as she followed Mia's gaze, a moment's thought was all it took for her to understand.
"You mean… Evernight City?"
Mia nodded, a sorrowful note in her voice. "The Evernight City of the past… was far, far larger than what you saw. It may not have had the richness and beauty of your home world, but it was the home our people relied on to survive. We even had moments that could be considered happy.
"But all of that was destroyed when that being who calls himself a God appeared.
"Our homeland was destroyed by monstrous waves, our people were driven from their homes, forced to survive upon a lifeless sea, and had to build a new city that lived only for Raloa Island.
