Renee Kane bent down to pick up the Skill Card that had fallen on the ground and glanced at Snowball.
Snowball remembered what Renee Kane had told him—to always stay in character when they were out. So, instead of rushing to speak with her, he pulled a handkerchief from his coat and slowly wiped the muzzle of his gun clean.
A sudden gust of wind caught the discarded handkerchief, letting it drift down onto Yana's face, which was still frozen in disbelief.
As the massive armored vehicle was retracted into her inventory, Renee Kane and Snowball vanished on the spot.
A few moments later, several people emerged from the surrounding shadows.
They exchanged glances without a word. After checking the bodies on the ground, they hurried toward the back of the house Chris Chandler had commandeered.
Soon, the roar of an engine mingled with a cry of suppressed ecstasy. "Good thing he didn't find the car! With The Eerie Domain dead, The Sanctuary Guild is ours now!"
