Cole's gaze deepened instantly. He knew that look on Josie all too well—it was the one she had when he'd teased her to the point of passion during their most intimate moments.
His Adam's apple bobbed. He stepped forward slowly, his tall frame exuding an invisible pressure as he walked to Josie's side and pulled her into his arms.
"What took you so long?" His deep voice rumbled in her ear.
His hand slid naturally to her slender waist, his thumb slowly caressing the sensitive small of her back through the thin fabric of her clothes.
The desire she had just managed to suppress flared back to life almost instantly at Cole's deliberate touch.
It took almost all her strength to raise a hand and stop Cole's roaming one. "Cole! Don't... I'm a bit tired. We've been traveling all day, and I really just want to rest."
Cole froze, a flicker of surprise and confusion in his eyes.
