Julian Ford nodded slightly. "Alright. When the time is right, I'll have him come in for the experiment."
The atmosphere eased. Julian Ford naturally raised his hand and, with the same fond affection he'd shown when they were children, ruffled the top of Josie Quinn's hair. "Not even grown up yourself, and already making decisions for others."
Josie Quinn's body stiffened almost imperceptibly. She looked up at him. "Julian, what do you mean I'm not grown up? I'm twenty-three."
A gentle smile touched Julian Ford's lips. "Twenty-three is still just a girl. Felix Fields… is he good to you?"
"He's great."
She answered almost without thinking, managing a faint smile as her gaze drifted to the laboratory's cold walls.
The lie was delivered casually, but she felt too guilty to meet Julian Ford's eyes.
