Marcus gasped, his eyes going wide at the audacity of the statement. He struggled harder to pull out of the grip, his elbow driving lightly into Kaelan's ribs, but Kaelan didn't budge an inch. Instead, Kaelan leaned his head down, his lips brushing against Marcus's burning ear as he whispered loud enough for only them to hear, "Wouldn't you like that, sweetheart?"
Unable to pull himself free from the stronger Beta without causing a scene right in front of the recovering woman, Marcus had no choice but to stiffly walk out of the room, practically dragged along by Kaelan's arm as they exited the recovery suite. The automated doors slid shut behind them with a sharp hiss, leaving Joveline alone with her swirling, chaotic thoughts.
