Chapter 4 - REMNANT: IV VANTIR

No.

I won't give in.

Not anymore.

Mother is dead. Gone for good.

I need to snap out of it.

His vital spots.

I have to make sure I don't hit this man's vital spots.

I'll make him talk by using my own methods. I just have to make sure I don't kill him.

I moved.

His arm cut through the space where I was standing and was straight up aimed at Aria's throat.

I quickly retreated to get back on my feet and my firm grip on his wrists just barely managed to stop his attack mid-way. The impact made its way up to my arm, sharp and sudden.

I can't let go now. I won't let go.

And what happened next was something the last thing that would come to my mind while fighting this madman.

His strength is so...raw and uneven.

For a moment, It spiked up. Violent and brash, before weakening just as quickly.

Like something, or someone was controlling him.

Forcing him to move...

I tightened my hold, twisting his arm just enough to throw him off balance. His body staggered, but he didn't fall.

Up close, I could see it clearly.

There was no awareness in eyes.

There was nothing.

Just....

obedience..?

I could swear with my life that I had been seeing these eyes everyday, every moment when she was still here with me.

I need to dig deep.

" Who sent you?"

My voice is steady, so unlike my mind.

The words just fell out my mouth. I didn't ask myself why. I didn't restrain myself.

And I won't any longer.

I will dig deeper.

He froze, as if he was thinking that everything now made sense.

Why the heck is he smiling?

It wasn't a simple one, at that. It was a twisted, empty thing that wasn't made for a human.

" The divine...sees all.."

Just as He said those 4 words, his body jerked violently.

He went limp.

The strength left his body as if there wasn't any to begin with.

I released my hold on him and let him fall to the ground and his doom.

I didn't understood the words He said.

The divine sees all..?

What is that supposed to mean?

Everything ended too quickly.

Something feels awfully wrong and incomplete.

Like I'd saw only a fragment to what there really was.

I slowly try to meet Aria's gaze.

She looked nothing like what she was looking mere moments before.

She had a stern look in her eyes. Lips that were no longer smiling.

I guess I hit bottom rock.

" I need answers, whomsoever you are, Aria."
