Thinking about how Jace Lennox once had a doting older brother, but was forced to take over everything and face the world alone after his brother's sudden death, she looked at him and felt a sense of shared sorrow.
'Before this, I always thought he was just naturally that tough and domineering. I never realized he was simply forced to grow up.'

"What happened to your forehead?" Jace Lennox's brow furrowed as he spotted the injury on Phoebe Faulkner's forehead.
Phoebe Faulkner hadn't expected his first words upon waking to be about her injured forehead. She quickly pulled her hair down to cover the wound. "It's nothing. I was just so worried about you that I wasn't watching where I was going and bumped into something."
"Bumped into something?"
