It was still early when Phoebe Faulkner arrived at the hospital. She met Kitty there, and after getting a number, Kitty used her connections to get them in to see an OB/GYN specialist directly.
The specialist looked at Phoebe, asked a few simple questions, and then sent her for some tests.
This was Phoebe's first time getting this kind of check-up. She thought a urine test, a blood test, and an ultrasound would be enough. But with Kitty there, she insisted the hospital run a full battery of tests—every single one they had, necessary or not.
After all the tests were finished, Kitty went back with Phoebe to the specialist's office.
However, after the specialist saw the first few results that were ready, the way she looked at Phoebe changed. She put the papers down, faced Phoebe, and said, "Ma'am, I don't think you need to wait for the rest of the results."
"Why?" Phoebe asked, confused.
