Worst of all, Jace's gaze landed squarely on Phoebe, making her feel as if he had stripped her naked.
Phoebe turned to leave, but she had barely moved when she heard a familiar voice. "Phoebe Faulkner?"
Phoebe looked back toward the entrance.
It was Linda.
"Linda," Phoebe called out.
"And this is…?" Linda's gaze was already fixed on Jace. She had spotted him beside Phoebe from outside; the man was so dazzling it was impossible to miss him.
Phoebe wanted to say she didn't know him.
But she knew if she did, she would definitely be in for it when she got home.
"Um, he's my… my brother." Phoebe figured Jace wouldn't want anyone to know about their relationship either, especially since his date was still in the fitting room.
The moment Linda heard that, her eyes lit up.
"So this is your cousin, the one who's friends with Director Calloway?"
Phoebe felt a chill on the back of her neck, but she forced herself to nod.
