The class advisor finished relaying the university's notices and dismissed the students.
Just as everyone was leaving, however, she called out to Phoebe Faulkner.
Phoebe heard her advisor call her and stopped in her tracks. "Professor, is there something you need?"
"It's nothing serious. But Phoebe Faulkner, a young woman should have some self-respect. Don't stoop to certain things just to get ahead."
Phoebe's face darkened at her words. "Professor, what's that supposed to mean?"
The advisor hadn't expected Phoebe to glare at her so openly, and her own face twisted in anger. "Your personal affairs are already casting the university in a very bad light. Is it a problem for me to tell you to be more discreet? What is this attitude?"
