Silas Thornton fell silent, his eyes fixed on Holly Wyatt from fifteen feet away. After a moment of thought, he murmured, "I have to take responsibility..."
His voice was so low that Finn Shepherd didn't catch it at all. "What was that?"
Silas Thornton's lips thinned. A rare hint of pink crept up the tips of his ears. His expression was stiff and awkward as he coldly repeated, "Responsibility."
Once he understood what Silas Thornton had said, Finn Shepherd's expression was indescribable.
"Responsibility?" Finn Shepherd repeated. "What did you do?"
Silas Thornton's lips remained sealed, and he said nothing. The roots of his ears visibly flushed crimson.
Finn Shepherd stared at him in amazement. "Holy shit! You didn't... Mmph... mmph..."
Before he could finish, a large hand clamped over his mouth. The grip was incredibly strong, as if determined to rip his lips clean off.
Pain instantly shot from his lips, jolting his nerves and forcing involuntary tears from his eyes.
