The moment the father and son arrived at the foot of the office building, Pippa made a beeline for the newly opened pet shop on the ground floor.
Through the floor-to-ceiling glass window, several fluffy puppies could be seen sprawling on a mat, sunbathing. Nearby stood a few cat trees, where several cats were dozing lazily.
Pippa plastered himself against the glass, his nose nearly touching it, his eyes glued to a little golden retriever inside.
"Daddy!" he yelled without turning around. "You have to come see! This puppy is so cute!"
Zane Patterson leisurely strolled over and stood behind Pippa, watching the plump little golden retriever roll around on its mat. Its belly was facing up, and its four short legs were flailing in the air.
"Yeah, it's pretty cute."
Pippa turned and tilted his little face up at him. "Daddy, can we get one?"
