"I wasn't really trying to do anything... I-I just wanted to go out and buy some medicine... Really..."
Jett Westgate finally moved.
He pressed the cigarette stub into the ashtray, crushing it out.
Then, he lifted his eyes, his gaze landing on her face.
"Heh, medicine?"
"So, you crashed a delivery truck on the mountainside, then raced through the city like you had a death wish."
"And this whole spectacular performance was just so you could go out and buy a box of pills?"
She didn't want to show fear in front of him, didn't want to admit complete defeat.
So she straightened her spine, met his icy gaze, and struggled to maintain a tough facade.
"Can't I?"
"I wanted to go buy some pills, what's wrong with that?! Don't I even have that much freedom?!"
Jett Westgate watched her, clearly scared to death but still putting on a brave front. His eyes darkened, but his face remained expressionless.
"In that case, where are the pills?"
