In the end, Dylan Heston didn't kiss her. Instead, he just held her quietly for a moment.
Hearing his heavy breathing above her, her mind was a complete mess.
A light drizzle had started outside. Nancy Hughes glanced at it. "Um, maybe you should head back now?"
Dylan Heston grunted in agreement. "I'll come pick you up tomorrow morning."
"Oh."
Nancy Hughes kept her head down as she saw him to the door.
Dylan Heston kissed her forehead before he left.
After Dylan Heston left, Nancy Hughes stared blankly at the closed door. 'Are we together now?'
'An hour. That's enough time for him to get from my apartment to his.'
Nancy Hughes lay sprawled on her bed, her phone resting on the pillow beside her.
She closed her eyes, muttering to herself, trying to keep from looking at it.
As the sun rose high in the sky, the person on the bed was jolted awake. Nancy Hughes shot bolt upright.
The first thing she did was scramble to check the time.
Eight o'clock. 'Oh god, I overslept again!'
