Passing by the doctor's office, Miles couldn't stop worrying about his mother. He wriggled out of Sharon Ennis's arms, pushed open the door, and saw two people in the middle of a huge argument.
When Elliot Sheridan walked over, Miles grabbed tightly onto his pant leg. "Dad!"
'They say you're supposed to feel an instant bond with your own child, but looking at him, I feel absolutely nothing.'
"Let go!"
Miles refused, his chubby little hands gripping even tighter. He asked timidly, "Daddy, were you fighting with Mommy?"
"Please don't fight with Mommy, okay?" As smart as Miles was, he was still just a child.
Seeing his parents arguing, and especially seeing his mother crying, he was at a loss. He instinctively clung to Elliot Sheridan, not wanting him to leave.
Elliot Sheridan looked down and pried the boy's hands away. "Do you want to stay with your mother, or do you want to come with me?"
'Georgia said that if this child is mine, we'll get a divorce.'
