Shalma Hughes's office had been relocated from the Sales Department to the very top floor of The Hughes Group. Following Shalma's promotion, her personal secretary, Thea Grant, also took a massive leap up the corporate ladder, becoming her personal executive assistant.
February 25th. The Spring Festival was just five days away.
Shalma wore a soft, flax-colored long dress. Her wavy, long hair was casually pinned up, revealing a slender, flawlessly pale neck. As she stood before the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, her gaze was fixed outside, lost in thought.
When Thea Grant came in with the monthly report, she saw her boss standing there like a solitary orchid in an empty valley.
"Ms. Hughes, here is the report you requested."
Thea's voice snapped Shalma out of her reverie. She turned around, glanced at the report Thea had placed on the desk, then turned back to stare out the window again. "Thea," she said softly, "has Ronan Fordham contacted you?"
