In the long hospital corridor, Julian Winslow and Lucas Lockwood stood outside the patient's room. Lucas looked extremely agitated. In a place like a hospital where smoking was forbidden, he was brazenly chain-smoking, one cigarette after another. The floor where he stood was covered in ash. The cigarette held between his two fingers was still burning slowly, its tip glowing a fiery red.
Julian Winslow stood beside Lucas. He glanced at him and said, "Your addiction is getting worse."
Lucas Lockwood took another harsh drag from his cigarette, then tossed the butt into a nearby trash can. "Cigarettes aren't half bad," he said. "Especially when you're stressed out."
Hearing Lucas's reply, Julian Winslow simply said, "Smoking more won't help."
Lucas Lockwood gave a helpless smile. "Why would she go looking for you? Knowing her, she wouldn't have been the one to seek you out..."
