"They haven't arrived?! Tax collection is a major affair, yet the Imperial Court hasn't sent anyone?"
"Could it be that something major has happened at the Imperial Court, so much so that they can't even deal with tax collection?" Xiao Jing muttered to himself.
As his thoughts drifted, Xiao Jing suddenly chuckled and shook his head. 'Big men have big worries. Why am I, a humble town mayor, concerning myself with the Imperial Court?!'
Pushing the thought from his mind, Xiao Jing turned to Niu Yang and said gravely, "Niu Yang, see to it that this tax collection is handled properly!"
Rising from his seat, Xiao Jing continued, "As you know, Niu Yang, I have a village of my own. In the future, I may acquire even more territory, so I will not be able to stay in Da Liu Town for an extended period. Once things have stabilized in Da Liu Town, I will return to my village. When that happens, Da Liu Town..."
As he spoke, Xiao Jing gave Niu Yang a meaningful look.
