Jiang Wendong held the phone, his face dark, a storm of emotions churning within him.
He looked at Ji Qingya. Their eyes met, and in that gaze, they both saw a shared sense of helplessness and resolve.
They knew their son's temperament well; he would never bow to threats.
But Ji Qingya was worried about her father's health.
Years ago, she had defied her family to marry Jiang Wendong, and her father had disowned her in public. But they were still bound by blood.
Her father could abandon her, but as his daughter, how could she abandon him?
"Our son has a mind of his own. As his parents, we can't make his decisions for him."
Jiang Wendong took a deep breath, comforting his wife. "We'll go to Qixia Villa together tomorrow. As for Xinghai, we'll let him make his own choice."
"Wendong, have you ever regretted marrying me?"
Ji Qingya placed a hand on Jiang Wendong's shoulder, her expression serious as she asked, "Don't lie to me. Tell me what's truly in your heart."
