The man's expression was grim, his aura terrifyingly sinister.
The servant didn't dare to meet his gaze. They lowered their head and, steeling themself, said:
"Mr. Sommers just called. He said Miss Quinn was in a car accident last night. She's at Kingsland Hospital and still hasn't woken up... He said you should get over there right away."
Perhaps the news of Seraphina Quinn's accident was too sudden, or maybe Damian Fairchild simply couldn't process it. He stood in stunned silence for a full half-minute before the servant's words finally sank in.
The air around him grew even more frigid and sharp.
He turned on his phone as he grabbed his car keys.
As he rushed downstairs, he collided with Audrey Winslow, who was just coming out of the dining room.
Seeing his grim expression, Audrey Winslow felt a sudden, inexplicable unease.
"You're... going out? Breakfast is ready. Aren't you going to eat something before..."
"Seraphina Quinn was in a car crash."
