"Mom!" Sylvia Blaine gently patted Miss Ashworth's hand, comforting her in a soft voice.
The person hit hardest by this was probably Rebecca Ashworth; she was in a complete daze.
Mr. Ashworth keenly noticed this and beckoned to her. "Rebecca, come here."
Still somewhat dazed, Rebecca Ashworth was startled when she suddenly heard Mr. Ashworth's voice. She then walked over. "Dad!"
"Rebecca, no matter what, you are my, Warren Ashworth's, treasured daughter, and a part of the Ashworth Family." Mr. Ashworth's deep, kind voice reached Rebecca's ears, instantly warming her heart.
Rebecca Ashworth's eyes reddened, and her voice choked with emotion. "Dad, you will always be my father."
Mr. Ashworth let out a hearty laugh. "That's right!"
Mr. Ashworth's laughter gradually dispelled some of the somber atmosphere in the living room, and the others also offered faint smiles.
