Paul Ashworth sat in his leather office chair, his expression dark. His slightly lowered, black eyes made it impossible to guess what he was thinking. The secretary watched his silent president, his scalp tingling with fear. He had the sudden urge to turn and run.
"Paul," a gentle voice said from behind the secretary.
"The President's wife." The secretary was overjoyed to see Sylvia Blaine walking over. 'You're finally here, Ma'am! Any later and I'd have been a goner.'
"Sylvia, what are you doing here?" Seeing his beloved wife, the gloom on Paul Ashworth's face instantly vanished. He stood up to greet her.
"You may leave," Paul Ashworth said to the secretary, his voice turning cold in an instant.
"Yes, sir." Hearing this, the secretary wiped the joyful expression from his face and hurried out.
