The night was still as a slender figure quietly slipped into the kitchen.
"Cecilia?"
The low voice made Cecilia Ashworth, who had come down to forage for a snack, jump.
When she looked up, she found the one person she most longed to see yet also dreaded. She took a small step back. "Morgan, you... what are you doing here?"
Jean Reginald watched the young woman before him deliberately keep her distance, and his brow furrowed slightly. "What are you doing in the kitchen?"
"I came to the kitchen to find something to eat." Cecilia Ashworth gave the small box of pastries in her hand a little shake as she explained quietly.
Jean Reginald said nothing, his dark eyes locked on her. His searing gaze felt as if it could pierce right through her.
Cecilia Ashworth dropped her gaze, feeling the heat of his stare. Panic fluttered in her chest, leaving her flustered. "Morgan, I'm going back to my room now."
As she tried to move past Jean Reginald and head out, he suddenly grabbed her.
