Vera Montague and Kiera Winters were so frightened their faces had turned pale. They looked as if they had seen a ghost and couldn't snap out of it for a long time.
Caden Reginald paid them no mind, his strong arm wrapped around the woman in his embrace. He let her nestle lazily against his chest, his gaze softening as he looked down. "Any other scores to settle?"
'He really didn't want his darling to waste her attention on anyone else. They hadn't seen each other in so long. He just wanted the two of them to be alone, without any other matters to disturb them.'
A flicker of amusement crossed Seraphina Ashworth's clear eyes as she looked up at Caden Reginald. "You want to help me?"
Her light, laughing words held a teasing, rhetorical tone.
'As if I don't know what this man of mine is thinking. He just wants to deal with everything here quickly so he can whisk me away and leave all these third wheels behind.'
"And why not?" Caden Reginald's lips curved into a slight smile.
