It would almost be better if a full-blown outbreak occurred after the fog. If people just transformed sporadically, everyone would let their guard down against zombies, assuming it was just some localized disease...

On internet forums, people had started discussing that strange person who moved just like a zombie. Others uploaded videos from different locations, all showing a person with the same bruised, purple face rampaging about. Their pupils were dilated to a size no living person's should be. Anyone they caught would start convulsing as the healthy color slowly drained from their face...
Soon, all of these threads were deleted, and the forums went silent. A few people made some vague, allusive posts, but those too disappeared within an hour.
It was a rare occasion to have the whole family together for dinner that evening.
