Seraphina Sterling's last sentence was devastatingly effective, completely shattering Shelby Fenton's confidence. She stumbled back a few steps and sank limply into a chair. Seraphina's analysis had dismantled everything Shelby thought she knew. Even if she had relied on her own judgment, she would have come to the same conclusion.
"Once Leo Fenton inherits Fenton Bank, you'll be nothing! Do you think Leo Fenton will be as generous as your father? Will you be able to continue the lavish lifestyle you've always been so proud of? So, you'd better keep a low profile now. Tone it down. Be careful not to offend people too much, because when you fall from grace, it'll be everyone else's turn to laugh at you! And being laughed at would be the best-case scenario. If they decide to take the opportunity to get revenge, what do you think your fate will be then?"
